NASHVILLE, Tenn. – INFINITI today reported U.S. sales of 10,413 vehicles in May.
The QX80 full-size sport utility vehicle, up 57 percent to 1,760, had its best May ever. With deliveries of 4,100 vehicles, the QX60 7-passenger crossover had an increase of 10 percent. Overall, INFINITI SUV's and crossovers were up 8 percent for the month.

Hyundai Motor America Reports Positive May 2019 Sales

Retail sales increased for the fourth straight month on a comparative basis and grew by 4% in May. This result was backed by retail increases for Tucson (up 46%), Santa Fe (up 37%), Kona and Kona EV (up 41%) and Veloster (40%), while fleet sales declined by 5%.

May Highlights
Hyundai SUV sales had a historic May with the most SUV vehicles sold in a single month of all time, growing 27% compared with May 2018. Santa Fe and Santa Fe XL sales were up a combined 29%, Tucson was up 20% and Kona sales increased by 42%, with Santa Fe, Tucson and Kona setting May monthly sales records. The strong SUV performance represented 55% of total Hyundai sales. On the car front, Accent sales grew 8% and Veloster 40%.
“The focus on our core models, along with the efforts of our regions and retail partners, strong marketing support and an exceptional product line, continued to grow sales and pick up market share in an industry that we expected to be down in May,” said John Cook, director, Sales Operations, Hyundai Motor America. “Hyundai’s expanding SUV lineup is clearly resonating with customers and with Palisade sales starting this month, our SUV mix is becoming more in line with the industry and represents a big opportunity for Hyundai sales throughout the rest of this year.”
May Product and Corporate Activities
- 2020 Elantra Enhancements: Hyundai announced details for the 2020 Elantra, which will now feature a new Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT), improved fuel economy and standard Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) to once again set the standard in the compact sedan segment.
- Best Mainstream CPO Program in the Industry: Hyundai was again named the best non-luxury certified pre-owned (CPO) program by Autotrader, the second consecutive year, and third time in the last four years it earned the top spot.
- 2019 Veloster Awarded an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK: In one of the industry’s most demanding vehicle crash tests, the redesigned 2019 Veloster received a TOP SAFETY PICK award from the IIHS. The 2019 TOP SAFETY PICK award applies to Velosters equipped with premium LED headlights built after August 2018.
- Kona Iron Man Sales: Hyundai began sales of the special-edition Kona Iron Man and sold the first to Matthew Conway, an Air Force veteran from Florida who took home the vehicle that features numerous exterior and interior design elements that resemble and give an appreciative nod to the iconic Iron Man suit.
- First IMSA Victory for Bryan Herta Autosport and Hyundai: Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins won the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Series at Mid-Ohio in early May for their first IMSA victory in the Veloster N TCR.
- Successful National Salute to America’s Heroes Activation: To celebrate and pay tribute to the military and first responders, Hyundai completed a successful National Salute to America’s Heroes Air and Sea Show in Miami Beach during Memorial Day weekend that also included a one-hour TV special executive produced by Peter Berg.
- New Vice President of National Sales: Hyundai named automotive industry veteran Randy Parker vice president of National Sales for the U.S. market.

IRVINE, Calif., June 3, 2019 – Kia Motors America today announced May sales of 60,062 vehicles, up 4.7-percent over the same period last year. May sales were led by the Soul with 10,713 units. In addition, sales of the all-new Telluride SUV climbed for the third straight month to a new high of 6,273 units.
“Kia’s world-class offerings drew customers at an increasing rate with sales picking up throughout the month and leading to the brand’s best monthly sales performance to date in 2019,” said Bill Peffer, vice president, sales operations, Kia Motors America. “With Telluride leading the charge and our attractive summer sales offers, more and more consumers are considering Kia when purchasing or leasing a new vehicle.”

Mercedes-Benz Reports May Sales of 27,080 Vehicles

ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported May sales of 27,080 Mercedes-Benz models – an increase of 0.4% over May 2018. Mercedes-Benz Vans reported May sales of 2,862 units and smart reported 106, bringing MBUSA to a grand total of 30,048 vehicles for the month. On a year-to-date basis, MBUSA recorded sales of 121,200, adding 13,020 units for Vans and 422 vehicles for smart, bringing the year-to-date sales volume to 134,642.
“Although supplies of some of our key new models continue to build, strong demand propelled us to a solid result for May,” said Dietmar Exler, president and CEO or MBUSA. “We expect to gain further momentum throughout the summer with greater availability of our new SUV and entry-level luxury models.”
Mercedes-Benz sales leaders in May included the GLC, C-Class and GLE model lines. The GLC lead totals with 6,594 vehicles followed by C-Class sales of 4,330. The GLE rounded out the top 3 with 3,882.
May sales of Mercedes-AMG high-performance models totaled 3,080 units (+17.2%) with 15,560 vehicles sold year-to-date (+20.1%).
Separately, Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) models recorded sales of 12,793 vehicles in May, an increase of 6.3% versus last year. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 53,649 vehicles, an increase of 4.7% from the previous year.

Volvo Car USA Reports May Sales

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. (June 3, 2019) - Volvo Car USA, LLC, (VCUSA) reported U.S. sales of 9,761 vehicles for the month of May, an increase of 4.5 percent versus May 2018. Year to date, Volvo Car USA is up 6.4 percent compared to last year.
The XC90 was the top seller for the month with 3,201 vehicles sold followed by the XC60 with 2,872. The new S60 had the best sales month since December 2016, selling 1,707 cars.
“SUVs continue to be a growth area for us, with SUV sales up 9 percent compared to the same time last year,” said Anders Gustafsson, President and CEO, Volvo Car USA, “the S60 continues to gain momentum.”
