And I also got a pleasant surprise with one of them....turned out to be a guy I had gone to high-school with, roughly half a century ago. We sat in a number of the same classrooms together...just one row apart (alphabetically). He had sold Toyotas and Hondas, and was now with BMW/Mini. In addition to talking cars, we had fun talking over old times.

Reading between the lines, seems like you have something against BMW.

I have never had a bad experience at BMW. Some locations are better than others.

Keep in mind that Hyundai and Kia did this years ago, in trying to combat years of poor quality reputation. But once they offered this longer warranty, it's hard to take it away without an impact on sales. They are kind of stuck with it now, for better or worse. Seems to me that it's been for the better.

Please--every brand had good and bad dealers and sales people. I've had a sales person cop an attitude with me regarding a Nissan Sentra. Until you do a scientific poll of all dealerships of all brands, this is merely your "impression", and not at all a fact.

I agree. Hard to take it away. I would not buy a Hyundai without one of these warranties.

It's true that there are bad apples with any brand, but the upmarket German brands, for years, had more than their share of indifferent, snobby sales people. In fact, for decades, arrogance was one of the hallmarks of the German auto industry. A classic example was Ferdinand Piech......VW chairman, who ran VW with a dictatorial hand, and was largely responsible for the diesel-cheating scandal. He ordered his engineers to meet the diesel-emission standards any way possible, whether legal or illegal. We saw the result.
