I would prefer a V8 and inline 6, but my brother was ok with the ecoboost V6 on his new Raptor. I suppose these are for work, and his is a toy.

I've watched the YouTube comparisons and it would come down to RAM or Ford for me, if I were in that market. Having driven my buddy's F250 turbodiesel, and cousin's hubby's RAM turbodiesel with a stick, I prefer the Ford. But the stick was amusing and fun. Neither of these were dualies.

Won't lie, I'm not a big fan of the changes to the grille.

But the new 7.3 V8 sounds interesting.

I don't usually see these updates being a response to other updates this close because of the lead time on introducing them(especially new powertrains). I don't think this is reactionary at all, especially since rumors of a refresh have been rampant on the Ford forums, as well as a 10-speed and a 7.3 V8.

The 10-Speed auto doesn’t shock me. A new V8 does. Happy to hear about it, just didn’t know the 6.2L needed replacing.

The V8 has been in the rumor mills for a couple years now. At one point it was supposed to be a DOHC 7.0 and eventually it came out last year that it would be a 7.3 OHV.

The current 6.2L in the Super Duty is 385 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. Any idea what the 7.3L will be rated at?

Somehow a mini Optimus Prime keeps popping into my head.

I'd bet the 7.3 will be in the 450 HP range and somewhere over 500 ft lbs.

If it's anything like the 6.2L V8 currently in the lineup, it'll be bulletproof.

OHV is better for truck duty. Longevity-wise, under hard loads, that was a no-brainer. Glad to see them go that way. Fewer moving parts=more reliable every time.

Be interesting to see what the initial reviews are once these get some miles underneath them.

so this appears to be a refresh not a whole new truck. new engines, new front/rear cosmetic changes, interior largely the same.

should be able to tow a house with this thing.
