Default Stanced Scion FR-S Spins On Camera, Promptly Hits Pole

Hercules says he wasn’t trying to drift when the accident happened, though it does sound like the engine was under full throttle when the car broke loose.

a-hole was totally trying to drift, he crashed before he could do it that's all.

Sad that he crashed, he must have put a ton of money into that ‘thing’.

I watched the video. I don't think he was trying to drift, either...the roadway itself was pretty straight. Looks like he simply had too many RPMs and tried too much of a shift under those conditions, breaking the rear tires loose from too great an RPM/torque-change. Classic accident....not that unusual. Happens quite often, particularly with V8 Mustang jocks.

Glad he or no one else was hurt....and I hope he learned a hard lesson from it.

The word stanced makes me cringe but yes he definitely tried to drift, the wheels look expensive.

.....on what is essentially a straight road? Drivers usually try and drift on curves.

lol did we watch the same clip? at the beginning you can see a left turning lane, and after he goes by there's a side street that he was def aiming for

Yes, I saw the left turn lane, but it was difficult to determine if he was going for it or just lost control of the rear end at about that moment. IMO, It looked and sounded like a torque shift to the rear wheels rather than yanking the steering wheel. Of course, only the driver himself can really fill us in on that.

Torque shift to the rear wheels? These cars aren't exactly powerful by any means with max of 205 HP/156 TQ stock. Not sure if this one had power mods don't see FMIC or sounded boosted. In addition to the weight of those wheels and widebody kit power to weight ratio is probably not nice. He was up to something his buddy with camera outside of the car didn't just happen to be there. I looked up story it's on Instagram his first claim was he wasn't trying to drift.

Torque alone is not the only thing. Choose the wrong rear and the sudden RPM change (besides a big shock to the drive train) can break the drive-wheels loose.
