2.5T may not (?) be enough engine for an SUV this size. If and when I do a test drive later in the year, I'll try and sample one with that powerplant. I'm confident, though, that the 3.5T will be plenty...especially considering the response of larger Ford/Lincoln SUVs with the similar-sized 3.5T Ecoboost.

I read the 2 5t engine in the Sonata N Line makes 290hp and 310ft. lbs. so it's adequate. Probably not as smooth as the V6 but a lower price point.

Agreed those are not Mickey-Mouse figures, but even unibody/crossover SUVs can get somewhat porky in weight as they increase in size. You're talking about a vehicle that is probably at least two and a half tons...and more than that fully loaded. Plus, some of the engine power is used up overcoming the extra weight and drag of AWD.

Looks pretty nice! Alex says he expects the price to undercut the RX350L... we shall see.

OK, as for pricing, this is NOT an official source (and I am not posting it as such)...but unofficial sources have the American-market versions starting around 50K and topping out at maybe 65K.

Genesis GV80 Pricing Reportedly Starts Around $50k, Reaches $65k

It's unconfirmed at this point, but it's comparable to German rivals.

The GV80 is obviously a big deal for Genesis, as it’s the first SUV for the luxury brand and we mean the very first. Until now, Genesis has only fielded a small fleet of sedans amid a world where sedan sales are dropping like hailstones in a Midwest springtime thunderstorm. The GV80 made it’s North American debut last night in Miami with two new turbocharged engines and an on-sale date later in the summer, but pricing wasn’t part of the conversation. It seems Car and Driver, however, got an unconfirmed inside tip.

Get To Know The GV80:

The Genesis GV80's Exhaust Tips Are Shaped Like The Grille

Genesis GV80 Finally Debuts As The World's Latest Luxury SUVThe magazine has it “on good word” that entry-level GV80 models could start around $50,000. That should be a two-wheel-drive model running the new 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline mill producing 300 horsepower (224 kilowatts). On the high end of the spectrum, a well-optioned all-wheel-drive GV80 will reportedly hit $65,000. It would have a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 making somewhere north of 370 hp (276 kW). We’ve contacted Genesis to see if there’s any truth behind these price estimates, and we’ll let you know the response as soon as we receive it.

The power ratings, however, are legit. Near the end of the GV80 reveal last night the automaker confirmed the pair of gasoline engines for North America, replacing the 278-hp (207-kW) 3.0-liter turbodiesel offered in South Korea. An exact power rating for the V6 isn’t known yet – Genesis revealed it as having 370-plus hp – but it should be enough to shoot the GV80 to 60 mph in the high-five-second range.

If this price structure proves accurate, the GV80 will undercut German competition by a few thousand dollars. The BMW X5 starts around $58,000, with the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class and Audi Q7 starting around $54,000. Specific pricing details will come from Genesis closer to its on-sale date, which for now is listed simply as summer 2020.

Bit, are there any standalone Genesis dealer in FL? I am in Miami/FTL area and i see none. When i test drove a G70 3.3T last year I had to go to Rick Case in Weston which sells Hyundai etc. I don't want to set foot in a Hyundai dealership again. This is a big market, how come we don't have a standalone Genesis dealership. I thought by now Genesis would have accomplished that.

PS. I consider you the unpaid Genesis ambassador for FL lol, hence the question.

I don't think there are any standalone Genesis dealers anywhere...

Currently, right now, none in the U.S., but 100 are planned in the next year, by January 2021. I'll be surprised, though, if all 100 of them (or even half of them) actually open on time, particularly in this area with its endless regulations, paperwork, red tape, and inspections.

100 stand alone dealers or 100 dealers attached to Hyundai dealers?

i really don't know, sorry.

the beauty is, after buying it, you don't have to. about doing the deal, many claim it can be done by email/phone or maybe even just use a broker.

PS. I consider you the unpaid Genesis ambassador for FL lol, hence the question.
LOL, hardly... my next vehicle (mar '21) could well not be another genesis.

From the sources I saw, stand-alone. But I think you and I can both agree to take that with a grain of salt. I'll believe it when I see it.

Majority of Mercedes GLE's are the 350 variant, which is a *gasp* 2.0 liter turbo with 255 hp (considerably less than the GV80).

Audi Q7's are also offered with a 2.0 liter turbo with even less, at 248 hp.

So I'm sure the 2.5T will be just fine for 90% of consumer needs. For those that want more, they have the 3.5 L turbo V6.
