I think you should include the historical sales of the LX models. It is the same vehicle for the most part. They kind of go hand in hand. Most parts fit each other interchangeably.

Those sales figures are only for the US
They sell around 120k+ Toyota Land Cruiser 200s annually and around 50k LX 570s.

as doug demuro says over and over and over... it's $85K now

it has its niche - it's a supremely reliable, old school, very off-road capable old looking suv that is basically an anachronism at this point. but it's pretty neat, for the few that buy 'em.

when was the last land cruiser you drove though? i'll be the first to admit it's a pretty easy thing to write off based off the on paper specs, but actually driving it i think would make anyone warm up to, THE LAND CRUISER... my mom who "loves" her MDX was even like oooooohhh i like how you sit in this thing! it's not like a g wagon which really feels like a 40 year old truck.

The price keeps going up because Toyota has not gone over the model with a cost cutting comb. If they did it would no longer be up to Land Cruiser standards which is to say everything is over built.

it uses a lot of proprietary parts that other toyota models dont share, another reason why its expensive. Moms 04 LX470 still running strong and looks great

Yes, I agree. I can think of a number of vehicles, today, that, even if it affects the price a little, could use a little more of that old-fashioned "overbuilt" quality you speak of.

The Landcruiser and LX are fantastic vehicles. The 100 Series LX470 is one of my favorite vehicles of all time and I hope to get one someday, along with a supercharged 2016+ LX570. They’re definitely worth the money.

If I could afford it I would have an 80,100, and 200 Series Landcruiser/LX. I would need a huge garage though.

The whole frame recall thing with the Tacomas is due to Dana just making real shty frames on those trucks. Has nothing to do with being made in Mexico.

When I mentioned the rust thing, I was not pointing at Tacomas... that was just a safety issue and a complete disaster.

Unfortunately even Land Cruisers and T4R being made in Japan still suffer from what many consider premature rust.

If you ever visit ih8mud (the most popular US Land Cruiser forum), there are several rust threads started every single day. And they are all about northern trucks. like they say, the only thing that kills a Land Cruiser is rust. They definitely do rust faster than your typical Lexus RX for example. Even the 200 series rusts like crazy. I've seen plenty of 5 year old 200s around Chicago and I would not touch them with a 10 ft pole there is so much rust underneath.

Look at that truck. And I have seen trucks with double or triple the amount of rust underneath. All LX or LC around Chicago. That's not normal to me. That something you expect to see on a Dodge maybe, but not a 80-100k truck.

The only Toyota models needing frame recall replacements are Tacoma, Tundra, and Sequoia. All American made and designed.

Google Sequoia and Tundra frame recall. It is scary bad.

Oh I am with you. I love the Japan designed products. I see the difference. A friend at the Marina we go to has a T100, what a great truck. Quite overbuilt. Our LX450 and 4Runner are pretty cool and quite different from the North American cars we have.

The current Land Cruiser is super rare. The most exclusive Toyota or Lexus model on sale other than the new Lexus LC.
