The bottom line is you just don’t need to drive faster than 80-85 MPH on US roads anyways.

OP didn't say if they want new or used or budget or if suv is preference over sedan, etc.

A FWD ES or RX is not a BMW, but most people aren’t comparing them to BMWs. They’re totally stable and safe.
These other cars are just not as confidence inspiring as the S class at high speeds. They are not necessarily unstable, many BMWs are probably even more stable than the S class, but they are not as balanced, and so they dont inspire the same confidence. My step father used to have a mid 2000 S500 and a newer Bentley, and the S500 felt better at high speeds than the Bentley, which costs twice as much.

That being said, LS is probably the best Lexus when it comes to high speed stability, but the rest of them with the exception of the current GS are notoriously horrendous. Their chassis feel like they are twisting and letting loose when maneuvering at 80mph, and it can be downright scary. There's simply no comparison between them vs German competition.

Notoriously horrendous? I put almost 200,000 miles on these FWD Lexus models, that’s just not true.

You don’t need to do a lot of things but other people do drive at those speeds and at certain times on certain roads it’s perfectly safe.

The bottom line is that OP asked about driving at 90-100mph.
In my personal experience- Lexus at those speeds is not ideal especially ES or RX.

How many of those miles were going over 100mph.
I assume ZERO. Please stop arguing about topic you have little personal perspective on.

Come to NY or we can meet somewhere in between
and do comparison with your LS.
I will bring S550 not M3 don’t worry. You can sip a coffee in one hand and talk on phone with other going 100mph easy. Doubt LS will make it so easy lol.

Not one. Absolutely no reason to drive that fast. They were driven at times in the 90s though. Lots of miles between 80-90.

Question on for you, how many miles have YOU put on a FWD Lexus at over 100 MPH? How about at any speed? And I’m the one who has no personal perspective LOL

In the Lexus - you better have both hands on the wheel and the car feels like its floating and gives you no confidence.

Go take a 7series or Sclass and drive it at 100mph - would love to hear your observations then compared to your LS.
i've spent a decent amount of time above 100 in the LS and E55, and going straight at least i'd say the LS is almost better. very confidence inspiring including going around fast sweeping corners. although, a high speed last second lane change in the AMG really makes you realize why it's the less comfortable car the majority of the time. it does high speed driving SO well, and that steering which is heavy and lumbering around town just feels PERFECT when you're zipping around at autobahn speeds. you additionally have the option to firm up the suspension which the LS (thankfully) can't do. oh and the BRAKES just put about anything else to shame. 8 piston front calipers, by brembo!

The LS has the same “on rails” feel when tracking down a highway at high speed the S Class does. Cars. Like this just gobble up highway miles, that’s what I love about them.

Cheaper FWD Lexus models don’t have that, but to call them “scary” is a dramatic overstatement.

I have driven from NY to FL and back.
NY to SC and back.
NY to MA and back.
These were done numerous times. Mostly at night and driving 8-10hours straight. I would estimate hundreds of miles were in triple figures combined over those trips.

I have driven RX of every generation going back to 1st as we owned all of them.
GS and LS430/460 as well. All these cars at one point hit that mark with me at the wheel.
I have had number of ES loaners over those years.

Again overstatement to you and your perspective of not being exposed to German cars at those speeds.
Hell if i went from my Legacy to LS, my perspective would be that LS is amazing at those speeds lol.

If they were so scary then how could you stand to drive them for “hundreds of miles” at triple digit speeds?

None of those trips were done in any Lexus.
Mostly X6, M3, 335i and 535i.

As mentioned i have probably over 100k miles in various Lexus that I or immediate family have had over the years.

My question was how many miles have you driven in a FWD Lexus at over 100MPH?

Im at about 600k miles in Lexus vehicles. 200k of those in FWD Lexus vehicles. All of these cars are perfectly safe at speeds up to 100 MPH, I have driven the LS approaching 150MPH and it is very stable and confidence inspiring at that speed, and that was 20 years ago, they’ve only gotten better.
