TOYOTA wins 24 hours of Le Mans!
As the title says, yesterday afternoon in Le Mans, France, Toyota crossed the finish line 1st and 2nd place overall to take their first victory in the 86th edition of the Le Mans 24 hours. https://www.autosport.com/wec/news/1...ans-for-toyota

True. But VW dug their own grave by cheating people and community they served, especially considering what LMP1 stood for. Anything they have accomplished is invalid to me at least. But lets hope Toyota has stiff competition from the privateers next year. Keep in mind Audi also won some Le-man without any true competition.

Toyota also won the 86th 24 hr Le Mans. The #86 is very significant to Toyota historically. Plus, Alonso struck an excellent opportunity with Toyota; Which gave this race some more significance.

What strange-looking cars, a bit like a cross between the batmobile and the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile, in my view.
Interesting hybrid car technology with a total of about 1,000hp. And they have to be a lot better than the conventional competition, who are allowed a higher fuel flow and a lower weight. So the hybrid idea of saving braking energy to use when accelerating out of corners is apparently a very big deal that would decimate the non-hybrids without substantial handicapping. Reminds me of the STP turbine car back in the 60s--just so much better than the competition that they had to choke it to death.

good news Toyota is actually going to build road version for the public which will use the same drive-train as the TS050 that won the Le Mans: https://toyotagazooracing.com/releas...c/0615-01.html

TS050 is the successor of TS040 & TS030 hybrids, both had V8 coupled with electric motor, which also used super capacitors instead of a traction battery. TS050 uses 2.4 v6 couple with an hybrid drive-train and uses actual battery to recover energy.
