We decided it wasn't worth going up to MetLife Stadium. Thinking back to the Lexus event at Citi Field, these aren't events that one wants to go out of the way to attend.

So we ended up going to Great Adventure, and this happened. In the end, that's the way these events should be, walk up....

Thanks for posting.....hope you enjoyed driving the 'Vette (I've done a couple of reviews myself on previous-generation versions).

We just had a long (and somewhat controversial) thread here in Car Chat comparing the value of a Corvette to a typical Ferrari.

Not usually like this, but I am smitten. The one I drove did not have the wide tires (I think it would need the Z51). The automatic car they had was a Gran Sport, which I believe had the 325's in the rear. Never say never, but imho this is a car saving one's pennies for. Might do some research and see if there is a sweet spot on picking these up used (have always heard 5 y.o. on the 997 and 991)....

You don't have to sell me on them. Though there are still some exceptions, as a rule, GM gives you your money's worth nowadays. Marry Barra's GM is not the flimsy, rental-grade GM of the 80s and 90s.

You can get great discounts on Corvettes now.
I know a dealer in LI that had 5 Grand Sports from 2017MY all brand new sitting unsold.
This was a few months ago.

For the $$$, its hard to beat the performance and sound you get.

Personally I love the look of the current C7 as well. Looks exotic, very "NOW", something I couldn't say about the C6, while handsome, did look like a warmed over C5 with fancy new projector headlights.

OP, congrats on your purchase. How is that 7 speed manual rowing through the gears??? Its kind of funny, cars now have as many gears as old semi trucks lol.

haha didn't purchase it, there was a Chevy test drive event at Great Adventure. They also had auto and manual Camaros, but in the interest of time I did not take a Camaro out.

I like the car and it would seem it's certainly worth $50k, $60k. Upon configuring one online, I came away with $79k for a Gran Sport. No way I can do without those 325's on the rear if I were to get one. But imagine getting a bare bones one for $50k...they are brand new on cars.com for $49,xxx. Not sure if you can get that plus tax out the door, could be a trap....

I will not say what happened when I did my "pinkie test." That's where I test the power steering by seeing if I can turn the wheel from lock to lock with my pinkie, while standing still...lol

But I did love it. Emphasis on love. And I'm happy that it would seem the stick is not going away.

'Vettes look way more expensive than they are. I'm biased against GM but the deals on them even tempt me. I'd love a convertible in red with red or brown interior.

Got good news for you, then. A Red/Red combination is possible with the Corvette Build-Your-Own feature. You can factory-order one that way.

Nice. I went to a GM Driving Experience a few years back. Drove the Vette and Camaro SS, among others. A fun time.
