Prince Harry drove Meghan Markle to their Royal Wedding reception in electric Jaguar
Well over a billion people all over the world tuned in to watch the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle this morning, but now that it's all said and done, it's time to direct our attention to the car that the newly crowned Duke and Duchess of Sussex drove to their reception. The Jaguar E-Type Zero first debuted in September of 2017, but it's getting a whole heck of a lot more press today than it did then. Welcome to the Royal Family, Jag.
Jaguar left as much of the original 1968 Series 1.5 E-Type in tact as possible while replacing the original inline-six engine with an electric motor and battery pack. Enough power is sent to the rear wheels to push this feline from 0-62 in just 5.5 seconds. That means it's quicker now than it was when new and chugging on gasoline.
The E-Type Zero's range of 170 miles is way more than enough to whisk the happy couple away from Windsor Castle to Frogmore House on the Windsor Estate, where Harry's father, the Prince of Wales, is hosting their wedding reception. But if it were to run out of juice, its 40kWh battery can be recharged in under 7 hours.
Want one of your own? The Daily Mail says it'll cost £350,000 (that's over $470,000 here in the States). Just don't expect a customized license plate to match the date of your wedding.

wow harry is going bald like william, by the time he has a baby the baby will have more hair on their head than harry.
i guess they also fixed brixit as well that's why they are able to afford wedding extravenganza, half a million dollar old cars their economy must be doing well.

That's so wrong on so many levels. Better hope Lucas didn't make the electric motor, or they'll be walking to their honeymoon.
The big fun part of old cars is the feel, the noises they make, the smells, running them through the gears. That inline six Jag makes one heck of a racket.

Quickest way to destroy and age a fine car is to drive it on dirt/gravel. Very disappointing to see.

wow, every comment here is negative. I somehow doubt jaguar cares.

Beautiful XKE. It was considered one of the most stunning coupe/convertibles in history. I can still remember when the gas-powered versions were brand-new. As Aron9000 pointed out, however, the Lucas electrical systems common to Jags and a number of other British-nameplate vehicles of the time were a joke.
As for the wedding itself, almost everything about it (especially the bride) was also stunning and beautiful except, IMO, for two things...the presence of Charles and Camilla after the royal scandals they have caused. I'm also not much of a fan of Elton John, who sang.

AND....... she passed the "Door Test" (Bronx Tale)
After Harry opened to door to the vintage Jaguar and Meghan sat down in the passenger seat, Harry walked around to the driver's side of the car, as the 36 year-old Duchess reached over and opened the door for him.

True, but that presence, IMO, did not do the festivities much good. Anyhow, I don't want to dwell on the negative too much. Overall, a beautiful wedding, a handsome groom, a stunningly beautiful bride....and, yes, a beautiful XKE.
