I notice how new lease deals did not help the Accord... They really messed up with small turbos and CVTs, it is not something their average owner appreciates in their car. Camry sold something like 8k more units for the month.

I dont understand Nissan being down 28%, change of fleet strategies?

I also find the new Camry visually more of a car that I would want in the driveway so to speak than the new Accord

I cannot find GM's sales report and I read elsewhere that they are no longer reporting them.

I believe they are going to only publish quarterly results from now on, so not until end of June I guess. I hope others do not follow suit.

You are correct, I believe I noted last month that they are moving to quarterly communication of sales numbers

Infiniti didnt cut much deals in April, and combined with higher MF, sales dropped off dramatically from last year.

Stinger sales are almost catching up to IS levels now!

It's not the turbos and CVTs (most consumers dont even know what turbos are)...its the crossturd look of them that is turning people off.

As for Nissan:

- Altima down to 10K sales only!!! -48%
- Maxima down to 2K sales only. -60%
- Sentra down to 17k sales only. -16%
- Pathfinder down to 2.7k sales only. -52%!!!!

Their car lineups are getting killed -33%. And suprisingly, their truck lineup as well (-33%).

Honda's always look weird. It is not just the looks.

As to Nissan, I guess they came off big deals in March and sales tanked. I think Rogue sold 50% compared to March .

Accords have traditionally been the more sporty, yet conservative look vs. Camry (which has metamorphosed from bland to weird to more interesting). So ya, it's the looks.

As for Nissan, I predict big sales at the end of this and next month to make up the #s. But in general, I think their whole lineups needs an overhaul.

Both industry overall and Lexus is up, if you look at daily rate (DSR). It was overall very good month for industry.

I found it very annoying how Reuters and few media outlets are calling doom and gloom when they had 2 days less selling cars and actual DSR is more than last year.

It is going to be another good year for the industry, especially Luxury vehicles.

Being European, they always looked (sometimes cool) weird to me... But for instance Civic sells well despite weird looks and CVT. So it is likely a mix of many different things, including looks, small turbo/cvt, and simply very nice Camry that is hurting Accord.

It is definitely not just the price, as Automotive News claimed in March, based on which Honda introduced new lease deals in April and nothing happened.
