Profile looks tight... with new engines and tech, this thing will sell "billions".

My Godfather bought a 2009, and he didn't have a single problem with it through Thanksgiving of last year, at which time he sold it

Actually, he's a big Toyota fan (and unfortunately CR as well haha).....he moved overseas and did not buy a new car. He sold this one to my wife's uncle, who added it to his collection which is only 2 cars today (he had 2 A6's and 2 Yukon Denali's of different gens and lives in Brooklyn, NY at one point). I actually forget the mileage of the RAV4 but it was just over 100k, which is nothing for a Toyota product...

I know my Godfather raved about it, zero as in not even one issue in all that time. He told me when I got the used LS430, that car was on every list for reliability back in its time....

It will be epic if they shove the V6 in there. 100% wont happen though.

we can hope to have 2.0t there... considering how significant Rav4 is becoming for US market, maybe there will be more powerful version? Keep in mind it will be mostly for show, I would guess less than 10% sales (Camry V6 is 8%).

For Europe, I am thinking we might get both 2.0l and 2.5l hybrids, if base diesel is out.

I've had 2 RAV4s, 2009 and a 2012, and the key thing I disliked about both was the ride, particularly over rough patches. I'm hoping they resolve this moving to the TNGA platform, but toherwise keep it's successful formula of a good family hauler that can carry a great load of stuff (I had a 6ft 180gallon fish tank loaded once)! I'm sure it will be a huge hit!

Pretty excited for this , my lease for my 2016 is ending this coming January, hopefully it'll be out by then. Hoping they improve the ride over bumps it's a little rough at times! Otherwise it's been a reliable SUV for the family.

I had the same gripe with my 2014 Camry SE. In an effort to improve handling, Toyota had compromised on the ride quality on some of its models in recent years IMO. I haven't had a chance to drive the new Camry but from what i have heard and read, the newer TNGA models (Camry, Prius, CHR) ride quite well so the new Rav 4 should be no different. Another area were Rav4 is behind competition is interior design and quality which should also get addressed.

Can't wait to see the new RAV4 as it will preview the new base for the next generation NX.

Current Rav4 has been out since MY14 right? New one for MY19. The last decade ToMoCo has typically been six years intro for 3, refresh for 3. So With the NX being refreshed for MY18. I have a feeling the 2019 NX will be identical and perhaps the 2020 NX will be all new.

It's time to slay the CR-V! I am sorry but for some reason I can't stand that vehicle. And my parents own one! lol
