The JGC is a fine vehicle, and (in most versions) has excellent road-manners. As an overall package, I have a high opinion of it myself. Reliability (and dealer-service) seems to be up and down.....some owners have problems, others do not. As far as the engine goes, if you want the Hemi, fine....but don't blame your gender on it. One's manlihood is not measured by the size of the engine in one's vehicle....or the amount of power it produces. IMO, those who buy into that stuff are watching (and believing) too many Fast and Furious movies.

One good thing about the Hemi....Chrysler, at least (with the proper towing package) allows towing with them....up to 7200 lb. When GMC did a similar Typhoon high-performance SUV, some years ago, they didn't even allow towing...and the Typhoon was a body-on-frame vehicle, which is usually better-adapted to towing than unibodies. But, as far as being "serious" goes......the SRT is also a serious chunk of cash, starting at 67K, and dealers often mark them up over list, just like they do with other SRTs and Hellcats.

You feel the Hemis are worth 67K to start?
I'm not bringing up these points just to start an argument. You asked for our thoughts on a V8 version.
As far as dealer-trolls for sales, CL's management usually doesn't allow that in Car Chat. There are other forums in CL for that.

V8s are always awesome in heavy SUVs or trucks. Downsize is the obvious. Our V8 4Runner is just superior compared to our LX450 or my mothers V6 4Runner. We really feel it when we load up our vehicles. If a Hemi is what you want, you should go for it IMO.

Why is the Twin Turbo ecoboost not cutting it? They make a lot of power.
