Here's to hoping they choose a 2.0T vs the puny 1.5T in Honda's arsenal.
I almost picked one up over my IS back in the day, but the turbo lag combined with a so-so interior knocked it out. It could definitely get out of its own way though

I see this as a good opportunity for Acura to start on a blank sheet of paper and re-inject some of that old school Honda/Acura magic in their next generation vehicles. Their last gen (current) fleet of vehicles left a lot to be desired but if the huge success of the all-new Civic, CR-V, and Accord are any indication, perhaps they finally figured out what they need and finally got their ***** together.

I personally drive an Acura now and am not looking to get back into another one, but I want to see them succeed and be competitive as they once were before. Perhaps if they are *really* good, I'll consider one again. Really excited to see the 3G RDX unveiling on Jan 15th, hopefully they impress!

Edit: Honda/Acura has also patented a new 3.5 DOHC V6 Turbo engine (J-Series successor). Perhaps this new engine may find its way in the new RDX with a Type-S badge?

Maybe sharing some design cues, but i heavily doubt it. Those taillamps are from the highly successful HR V. Its probs based on that.

The CDX is definately not the new RDX. It is tiny and based off the Honda HR-V. If it comes to the US it will compete with the Buick Encore size vehicles.

If some the the work put into my NSX can find it's way into a RWD based sedan I could see owning that.

I want to believe Acura will turn things around but all I see is a CX-5 at this time.

2019 RDX truly looks like a pint sized MDX. The interior looks nice, though the layout is very similar to the Lexus NX with that waterfall center console, physical climate controls location, and the bigger fixed position infotainment screen. The polished seat control bezels look nice. Also looks like it has an Auto Start/Stop feature.

That's going to sell like hot cakes. I generally do not like the new Acura grilles, but on this car it works really well. Everything looks good.

Where is the control for the infotainment system? The display screen seems too far away from the driver for it to be a touchscreen, so there must be some control dial or touchpad somewhere.

Is this pencil eraser the control dial?

^^ the black button looks like a 'push' type for the Audio PWR (guessing).

The silver dial looks to be the Eco/Sport/Normal modes.

The nav might have steering wheel controls??

The "pencil erasure" button could be the volume/pwr for audio. The control for the nav looks to be this touchpad portion below the drive select.

^^ thanks for circling that. So then again that's another similarity to the Lexus NX which also uses a revised touchpad for MY2018

Wink Better Pics

In these pics you can see that the pop-out button to the top left of the center stack is the audio on/off volume button. Also the touchpad @ the bottom is the infotainment controller:
