Default Tires swap - would you do it?

Hi folks,

I have an opportunity to swap a new set of oem Bridgestone Ecopia HL 422 plus for a set of Michelin Premier LTX in 235/55/20. I just have to pay for labor of 140 bucks and I'm fine with that. This is for a 2017 RX350 AWD.

is the Michelin better than the Ecopia? Would you do it? Your experience?

Thanks in advance.

my 4Runner has Michelin Cross Terrian and our Lx450 has LTX. I have always liked the brand. They do tend to last a long long time. What is the traction and temp rating on the Bridgestone tires? I don't think I have ever seen Michelin have anything less than A and A

I just put a set of the Premier LTX on my wife's CX-5 and they drive well. I'm a Michelin fanboy so I'd probably make the swap

They look like they are both good tires. I would prefer Michelin.

Funny that when I click on Compare Ratings for All Tires in This Category for either the Michelin or the Bridgestone, 5 tires are listed, with the Michelin as the best of the 5 but the Bridgestone Ecopia does not appear on the list. Perhaps it has not yet been tested by Tire Rack?

I don't see a $140 point in doing the swap. It just doesn't make much sense to me. While I like most Michelin tires compared to most Bridgestone's. I personally wouldn't, I don't see the $140 value.

Tire Rack rates both very closely to each other.

I didn't pay anything to have my dealer swap out the Bridgestones for Michelins on my '16 RXh. There was another F-Sport on the lot with them. They switched out the rims and tires. Go with Michelin, the Premiers were designed for the RX. And we have a thread in the 4RX forum on the Bridgestones here.

As far as I'm concerned, Michelin and Continental, in general, set the tire-industry standard.

They are. I just went through this with my CX-9. Tire Rack categorizes them as "Crossover/SUV Touring All Season". Personally, I ended up with the General Altimax RT43, at 1/2 the price, and nearly the same ratings as the Michelin and Ecopias.

Are you not happy with the Bridgestones???? That would be the only reason I'd do it, if I weren't happy with what's on there.

That is the Bridgestone Dueler H/L 422 Ecopia, not the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus (https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...H%2FL+422+Plus), which is "Not Yet Rated". They may be similar tires but not the same. It looks like the Ecopia H/L 422 Plus is a new tire by Bridgestone.

Thank you all for the responses I got the tires swapped and all is good. I have never owned a Bridgestone tire but my sister's GX460 has it and I don't "like" its look. Out of the 6 Lexus I have owned, 4 came with Michelin and they were fine, one came with Dunlop (worst) and one came with Yoko (meh). Also, when 2 RX'es are parked next to each other, the Premier looks "bigger and better" comparing to the Ecopia even though they are the same size.

PS. wanted to go with 255/50/R20 but the dealer said I have to buy a NEW set and sell the current set (in 235/55/20) myself. The total cost for 4 Michelin in 255/50/20 will be $1150. This is definitely NOT worth it.
