The funny thing with the 6 is, that in Europe and the JDM market this sedan already has an AWD option to make it that much more practical as a sporty all season cruiser. So all they need now is to bring some of that engineering and some CX9 bits to this platform, and you have the perfect enthusiast's sedan with excellent material quality and fit/finish etc. This car looks nicer and also different from the rest of the herd, while having a much nicer driving experience.
man I love this design and engine... but I’m so scared of Mazda reliability...
if if the new accord looked half as good, I would be all over it..

Ford offers an AWD Fusion with a 2.7 V6 that packs a heck of a punch, and even then there are garden variety Fusions with AWD available too. Mazda can do the same since they have a popular line of SUV's to bolster sales. Unlike other manufacturers, Mazda doesn't have a luxury line division, so they have the money to spend on their mainline vehicles. They already offer an AWD 6 elsewhere.

Read at another source that it makes more power on 93 than on regular. Goes to show you that premium fuel does still make a difference

I had a loaner 328i back in '16 for 4 1/2 mos. I usually drove in ECO PRO and with the engine start/stop activated to maximize the mpgs. Before I turned it in, my colleague said you have to try it in launch mode. It only let me do it 2X but it must have been doing a 5.5'ish 0-60. Rough as all h*** as is inherent with 4 cyl motors, but very quick. imho once you're used to an I6, the I4 is a racket....

Why can't they just offer AWD as a separate trim level? No need to make AWD standard.

Yea I know the Ford and Mazda ended their relationship long time ago.
MattyG’s comment about the Fusion.. that at the end of the day it’s a Ford..
Jury is still out on Mazda’s reliability I heard. It’s with the levels of Hyundai/Kia..
mazda 6 looks w Honda reliability.. one can only dreaM

I've heard reliability with Mazda is quite good, provided it isn't a Ford rebadge(Tribute, Ranger truck, etc). I've looked at cheaper Miatas, it isn't uncommon to find them with over 200k on them, original engine/trans, runs like a top. Same thing with older 3's. There was one SUV they made(CX-7 I think) that was a turkey, had a problem with blown motors.
Personally I've always thought the Mazda 6 was the best looking car in this segment by a mile, same thing with the interior, it looked the best/felt the best IMO. Interior wise its 1 step ahead of the new Camry and was about on-par with the last gen Accord in terms of quality. Haven't sat in a new Accord to compare, but that's one car I wouldn't buy just based on looks alone.
Glad to see they finally put a high performance motor under the hood. This will be interesting to see which one Car and Driver picks in their upcoming comparision test, as the editors there have always had a hard on for the Accord and most things Mazda.
