Wonder if they stick to numbers that once existed, like 560 SEL SEC etc., or would they be like BMW and have a 565, 570, etc.....I never gave it any thought that the V8 in the S550 was a 4.7 liter, and is now 4....because the number "seemed" to be in line, ie. not 745, but 750, not 755, but 760, etc. I know it's marketing, but they must have discussed it at the mfg....
It was a couple generations ago they upgraded their top non-AMG V8 from 5 litre to 5.5 litre that they change it to S550 for horsepower loving N.Americans (particularly USA who loves big numbers
, but decided to stick with what they then consider more traditional S500 for the rest of the world even for the 5.5 litre V8.

There is never a S550 outside N.America, the rest of the world always call them S500.

What I like:
Steering wheel: it's gorgeous and sporty.
What I don't like:
The unibrow LED DRLs are gone. I thought the simplistic design was both elegant and distinctive to the S-class.
I'm sure C-class owners also appreciated the design because it was shared with both cars.
Oh well, change happens.

mb really did a great job on this generation of s class. they totally leave the 7 series behind imho, not to mention lexus with effectively the same car from 10 years ago.

As usual, MB is setting the bar for the luxury sedan. Absolutely beautiful car inside and out. I was behind a brand new S550 coupe a couple of days ago...talk about a bold but beautiful design. Wow.
