GMC/Chevy's reverse lights
Does anyone else find this feature very annoying? I see this a few times on the newer GMC (or maybe Chevy). When the car is parked or turned off, the reverse lights light up, and when I walk by I thought the car is trying to reverse. This is especially a problem in busy parking lots because I can't really hear the engine (probably bigger issue if this feature is on an EV) . I don't know which engineer thought it's a good idea to use the reverse lights to light the surroundings when it's a universal indicator of the car backing up.

Yes I find it very annoying, especially in parking lots. I recall this getting mentioned in a thread a few months ago. My Buick and camaro do it too. Wish I could program it not to.

Does it happen when you have the ignition shut off? Some people just sit there with the engine off and ignition on....although some GM cars (my Verano included) keep some circuits open until the ignition is not only shut off, but the key is actually out of the ignition, or the drivers' door opened.

Yes, I've been bringing this up in forums since 2005 when it first started. A safety hazard, no question. Rear lighting should only do duty for stop, night, and reverse. I thought there was was a law on that, along the same lines as to why blue headlights and clear blinkers are illegal. GM should be fined for this hazard. I think I even read Walmart was getting complaints from so many customers, they brought it up to corporate.

Yeah its stupid, GM cars/trucks have been like this for the past 7, 8, maybe 10 years. Push the unlock button on the fob, the reverse lights(and maybe the headlights) come on. Somebody walking to their car and pushes unlock on the fob, looks like they're about to back out of their space.

Whatever it is, it is contributing to traffic jams and longer shopping commute times. People see the reverse lights and wait for the person to pull out. Backs everything up for nothing.
