The Family heirloom My mom, my brother and I went in 3rds to buy this for dads birthday this year. Little bro and I have free run of it, when we want it, and man is it a blast. I maintain it the finish, GM does all the services.

The Vette or the ES? LOL I was under the impression that there really isn't much in the way of aftermarket for the 02 ES300's except for wheels, which I may or may not do. I just don't want to lower the thing...in fact I don't even want to mess with the struts at all and lose that cushy Lexus ride.

It's not mint outside, but close. I need to get some Touch up paint and hit it in a few spots. and then go over it with my 7 step detail and paint correction process.

So I got a chance today to take 'er out, and really run it through the gamut. I gotta say, I am impressed. Do these cars age? Either this car was impeccably cared for, I got lucky, or some combination of the two. Because out of 100 miles of driving today, the only thing I had that wasn't perfect was a slight "tap" or "tick" from the a-pillar area, not sure what thats about, but it is so minute, that I didn't hear it unless the radio was off and I was blissfully sailing down the freeway and I hit a dip just right.
I have no idea where the throttle issues or any of that herky-jerky nonsense are, but they aren't present in this car. If any of you have issues with yours, I have one suggestion. Go drive a 2014 Civic for a few hours. Then get back in your car and go home. You will thank me.

Its there. The issue is when you're say rolling in traffic at maybe 2 MPH, and you get off the throttle and then get back on the throttle you get a very disconcerting jerk in the acceleration response. You learn to compensate for it somewhat by giving it input to open the throttle up but hanging there a half second before applying throttle pressure to let the computer catch up. The issue isn't a myth though, its very real. I put 157k on one I know
Be that as it may, I must already be compensating for it because this car is hardly doing it.

Your car may have already had a factory ECU re-flash done sometime in its life, which was supposed to address the problem Steve is talking about. The re-flash was authorized for certain model years of the 4Gen ES, and certain VIN-blocks within those model years....I don't remember all the details. I DO remember, though, that some owners were satisfied with the results of the re-flash, and others weren't.
