2014 IS or 2013 GS - Which to Buy?
Hi all - I have a 2015 VW GTI and I've gotten to the point (even at 26k miles) that I can't deal with the general unreliability and electrical glitches anymore. I definitely want a Lexus for the reliability and service experience and can't decide between the IS or GS. The IS is a good size as I live in Midtown Atlanta and parking maneuverability is a must, but the GS has all the features I like and is just beautiful, but I worry that it's "too much" car. Anyone have any ideas I may not have considered?

Buy the GS, more room than the IS. Has the same engine, same sporty suspension and driving feel, better interior, bigger trunk. IMO its the right size, the IS was always a bit small, especially that tight back seat.

Personally I prefer the GS. Both are nice looking cars but the GS is not only roomier but has a much more luxurious interior. I've always felt that the current gen IS has a boy racer looking interior. They went overboard in the sporty department and what's left is an interior that IMO feels less "special" than its competitors. Can't say the same for the GS.

I've owned both (3IS and 4GS). IS is more fun and comfortable enough for 4, with a reasonable trunk. GS is more luxurious, drives smaller than it is, and feels much more upscale.
Tough choice but no wrong answer in my opinion.

Take a step back and try to reset yourself. You are going to lose a lot of money and equity by getting rid of a 2015 car. You are still under warranty, so try to stick with it for a bit more until you have gained some. Getting into a new car just to avoid some reliability issues really isn't a good financial choice while you are still under warranty. The GTI is overall a highly rated car. The IS and GS are just added luxuries. Later down the road if you want to get out of it, you can. But just be sure to look at the entire picture, where you will be committing to an entire new note and debt. That will put you behind money wise. Don't think it's worth it in my opinion. Think about it all.

With all of the pressure that VW is under to recompense customers after the diesel scandal, have they given you any offers for your present car (lump-sum, trade-in value, economic compensation, etc.....), even though it isn't a diesel? In fact, a Federal judge, just today, approved VW's latest buy-back offer to customers.

I had this choice to make too and I chose the 2015 IS350. The main reason was the size...perfect to hit the gap in traffic and it felt small. The turning radius on the car is insane...i haven't made a 3 point turn ever. The GS feels like an older person car. Yes the GS is capable but it didn't have that sporty feeling like the IS350. The 2013 GS had the 6 speed too vs the 8 speed in the 2014 IS350.

I wouldn't even consider an IS compared to a GS. The GS is a huge upgrade IMHO.

GS is much more of a car than the IS is - that said, GS is more flexible of a vehicle should you need to take 4 other passengers one day with you...you can.
Had a few IS250 loaners and wouldn't consider them at all, not saying the IS250 is a bad car but if financially you can swing for a GS, I would do that!
