Top Gear US on History
Surprisingly, the series is back. I watched the premier hoping it would be better this time around... Nope. I'm convinced that they give the fat guy, Rutledge, the best car and he just screws it up. Is it because he can't drive? There tackle the Rubicon trail in a modded 4runner, a Bronco, and Geo Tracker. Rutledge flips then destroys the motor mounts off the 4runner. Ridiculous. Then there's a speed off between a McLaren p(something), Porsche gt3, and a Ferrari 512(?). And he only brings the McLaren to 135mph and the slowest on a track test. The entertainment value is surely lacking still. Maybe if the car results would actually be a bit more accurate. The show remains boring.
I actually like Rutlege, its the other two ***** on that show that make it horrible IMO. I think Rutlege paired with some better co-hosts would make that show so much more watchable. I really wish they'd have Tim Allen on that show, he's a well known "petrol-head", and somebody I find funny, engaging, somewhat blue collar, and most of all he's somebody I can relate to.
I only saw a teaser for the show but it was the F12, GT3, and 650S featured. Such an odd slate of vehicles for a comparo to begin with and in the case of the Porsche and McLaren, not even the latest and greatest. Could they not find any other cars available for the show?
Ah yes those were the correct vehicles. All beautiful cars, but as you stated, an odd mix. Pretty poor showing for a premier episode.
