I am so tired of waiting, and the show was getting kind of weak the last 3 seasons with reduced episodes and more and more challenges. I am pretty happy watching the Motor Trend Ignition and Head to Head episodes. Youtube is filled with solid stuff including Chris Harris' channel and so much more

Ladies and gentlemen, may we present to you the first teaser trailer from the new series of Top Gear.

In it, you will find a roster of some of the world’s finest driving machinery, from the McLaren 675 LT and Ferrari’s F12 Tdf, right through to things like the Ariel Nomad. There's also, um, a pair of Reliant 3 wheelers driving from London to Blackpool. One of them under its own steam, too…

But there is also much drifting, lots of tyre smoke, and Chris Evans having a little moment following a track session with Sabine Schmitz in California. All we can say is strawberries.

We’ll bring you more before the new series kicks off in May, but for now, sit back, turn it up and watch the new trailer. Note: includes an 820bhp Aston Vulcan at Yas Marina. At night. Doing donuts.

Well it looks like the director of photography and camera crew didn't jump ship with Clarkson, Hammond and May

The visuals look stunning in that preview, can't wait to watch it.

They said the show was going to be different...it looks pretty much the same...which I think is a mistake.

Yeah as someone who's been behind the cam, it does look good. One of the things I admired above all else on the old show.

It's possible the BBC crew may have been in a contract/union situation, so even if they wanted to, they couldn't leave.

The backbone of any tv program is it's crew/producers. But most people associate television with the faces that you see. It's not always like that although Clarkson, Hammond and Mays did bring their own charm and ideas.

It's kinda like Ryan Seacrest. He could have ended up on Family Feud or he could have done American Idol. The crew makes him look good but he brings it on either program.

Agreed. It was never about the cinematography or even really the cars. It was about Clarkson, May, and Hammond, and their stunts and their chemistry. That's why so many competing car shows have failed - in that they tried to imitate Top Gear, but the hosts didn't have anywhere near the chemistry.

I wouldn't say that entirely. I always enjoyed watching the guys hammer on exotic machinery I will probably never even lay eyes on. I wouldn't know what a Pagani or a Koenzesegg is if it wasn't for this show.

Trailer looks pretty good. Matt LeBlanc has enough power to bring in quite a bit of new viewers and they seem to be working pretty well together. Pretty excited about it actually.

And you see that with other iterations of Top Gear around the world, in the US, etc. They put different people in the same situations and its not as entertaining.

I mean...I don't find Matt LeBlanc in a beat up kit car with it overheating and leaving him stranded funny, thats obviously just staged. It was the personality of the three in those situations that was funny.

Thats why they should have gone in a new direction with the show, don't just do the same sort of stuff, which is all this looks to be from the trailer. Come up with some new looks from a DP point of view too, make it look and feel like a new show.

besides the Stig, what looks the same? that they're driving different types of cars?

IMO, they should just review/drive all different types of cars and not imitate the original.

The cinematography is the same. You can see the same sorts of "challenges" with them driving hand built and weird vehicles in strange situations.
