How does a 5.6L V8 that revs to 9000 rpm "only" make 525hp?

Well, those HRE looks almost like the LFA wheels. Maybe they were trying to go for that look

It's the LC500 that's currently at SEMA:

SEMA - showing sometimes cool looking but undrivable cars for decades.

As many others have stated I don't think Lexus is in a position (yet) to sell a car starting at, or over, $100k. While I have a great respect for the brand and the cars they make, I just don't feel they are there yet. Perhaps this is just my intrinsic value towards Lexus and maybe one of you has a different view point on this.

[MODERATOR: Inappropriate comment removed] Lexus IS far more capable then any of these brands to produce a car in the 100k range. How do you think there so successful?!?!?!

Why not? Why can Mercedes sell you an S-Class for $228,000 but Lexus can't sell a $100k coupe?

Because they haven't done it, yet?

MB does it all day. And that's just an S-Class.

Hell, you can option up an LS to just shy of 100K right now. And the LF-A needs no mention. (Yes, I know. Limited production and all that.)

I think the time is right. 100K isn't as big a deal these days. Almost everyone else in this league is doing it. MB, Audi, BMW, they are all WAY into the 6 figures.

I think Lexus could use more cars in this range.

I will agree with you that the Lexus could charge 100K for a car. They already did with the LS600h, you can also option up the LX to about $99K. However, I do not think this LC looks or can command a 100K starting price. Perhaps fully optioned yes, but not starting.

If Lexus would build a V12, then they could have a number of models starting at 100K +++

Exactly, to elevate the marque, more six figure cars are needed. Once available they can be refined, repackaged, and redesigned. But the important part is that these models come to fruition.

Agreed. We're talking if Lexus can charge 6 figures, not if the LC is worth it. I'd need to see it in person to judge that one. Either way, they aren't far off. A GS-F starts at 83k. So if the LC is an ultra low production model, I'd say 100k is the area. About 20K over a GS-F for this car seems about right to me? In terms of style, league, exclusivity, etc. This is not a big engine shoe-horned into a standard Lexus offering like the -F cars.

Again, have to see it in person, and judge final specs and pricing and all that when all that is released. We're not far off.

OK, tell us what Lexus needs to do to be able to sell 100k cars.
