Blew Away a Porsche!
Okay, it was a Porsche SUV, but it was still a Porsche and a kind that is supposed to be quicker than a 4GS. I pulled up to a light, minding my own business, when a Porsche Cayenne pulls up in the next lane. On the other side of the cross street, we both know the road will narrow from two to a single lane about a hundred feet from the corner. I just happened to glance over at the Porsche. The driver smiles than points at the road ahead sayin' "let's do it."
I'm 62 years old and should know better (the Porsche driver appeared to be about 20 years younger) but I couldn't help myself. I calmly turned the dial from "normal" to "sport." We all know what that does. The light changed and the Cayenne jumped but so did I. Maybe he thought I had RWD and would get wheel spin, but I have AWD. My right foot was on the floor. My GS roared and suddenly leaped ahead of the Porsche, pushing me back in my seat. In two eye blinks I could see the Porsche in my rear view mirror. I was out front easily as the lanes merged.
Another Porsche slain.

Age has little to do with it. I knew better even back when I was in high-school (well, almost, LOL). We won't toss any stones at you, though..all of us have probably done something dumb behind the wheel at one point or another. (I learned the hard way, for example, to take it easy on ice and snow). The main thing, though, is to learn from it and not get in the habit of repeating things.

Good for you. Hope you are proud. I often overtake other cars when two lanes merge, but I don't consider it an accomplishment. It's just a quicker way to get to where I'm going.

I don't believe he would've challenged me, if he was driving one of those slow diesels. It must've been an S or a Turbo.
Yes, it was dumb. But wasn't it dumber to challenge someone? I've never done that.

A turbo would've smoked you all day and night. Definitely an S or below. Glad you're enjoying your car though!
