Well carfax did pick up that it was auctioned, but not damaged. I think carfax didn't pick it up because the integrity of the frame wasn't compromised. The guy told me it was some panel damage but it's fine. I'm going to have a mechanic inspect it. Honestly, it looks brand new. If it feels good, the mechanic says it's good, I'm going for it. But I don't think the timing belt was replaced, so my offer will be in the $7500 to $8000 range just for that alone because I'll have to pay to replace that.

Let us know the outcome and take some pictures and post if you end up getting it. Good Luck!

Here is the Craigslist link so I don't have to upload all the pictures from it. I ended up getting it for $8200. The mechanic said its overall in good condition. But the spark plugs, brake pads, timing belt, and possibly tires need to be changed. But.... It's like new I swear. Looks like it was very well maintained other than the lack of timing belt change. Here's the link:

It's a good pickup, I rather buy an used car and perform all the maint myself so I know I do it right, rather that take someone's word for it. Btw it's funny how the ad said it's loaded, but it's actually a base Ls430...

Yes I know its not the Ultra Luxury, but I do think its the Premium Package. It has the premium sound, wouldnt that qualify? I dont know. Anyways I did not want the navigation because I hear its easier to change out the head unit without the navi. The guy I bought it from got it from an auction 8 months earlier for $10,900. He is a dealer on the side (not a sales man, just had his dealers license and did it on the side for fun/extra money) but this was his personal car.

looks like a base since it has no nav. the car only has two kind of audio, base (premium) or mark levinson.

bit given a car this age and miles, i would probably go with less electronics (no nav)

Thanks for your help guys, you really helped me make this decision and I appreciate it. I'll be looking forward to participating in the forums now that I have a Lexus )) Any idea if it's a good idea to buy parts for the timing belt/water pump online, then bring it to a dealer? The brake pads, fluids, and spark plugs I can do myself.

Don't do maint at the dealer at this mileage, timing belt could be 1900 from it. Where you will prob only pay 700 at an Indy shop.

I agree with blacksc400, Lexus will charge you top dollar to do the work. When I had my LS 400 Lexus quoted me $1600 and some change to do the timing belt and water pump. I went to my Indy mechanic and he quoted me $900 for the whole job with OEM parts. Lexus also will not let you bring in your own parts for them to install. There policy will not allow that, parts and work must be performed by them. At least thats what 2 Lexus dealers told me around where I live.

in the meantime, I agree with the LS400/430 recommendations, though I also agree with Aron9000 that the living-room-sofa seats in older American luxury cars were even more comfortable (the cushiest seats I ever saw were in 1965-66 full-size Buicks), though they didn't offer much support.
The most comfortable sofa seat that I sat in lately has been the new Avalon.
