Default Bing search being dropped from Toyota Entune

Bing is being dropped from Toyota Entune. I assume this will apply to Enform at some point.

I wonder if the bookmark location function will remain as a part of the app because that was what I mainly used the app for.

So that means they'll have to reflash our infotainment system to make the changes then? Cause my 2014 has the Bing search built in and they can't do it over the air. They should just bring CarPlay already and be done with these outdated ancient stuff.

Bing really works quite well. But if they can flash bing out that means they can flash Apple carplay in right? I'm not going to have bing removed before I see how good the replacement is first.

Bing is so much better and faster than the built in POIs. That thing is useless, took me forever to find a place. I gave up and always ended up using my phone to find a place and just enter the address there.

When the update is completed, Destination Search (Replaces Bing) allows you to:

• Search by address, category, and view search history.
• Search using voice recognition.
• View point-of-interest phone number and use the call button to connect directly to your destination.
• New: Sort search results by distance.
• New: Receive automated suggestions as you search on your smartphone, making it even easier to find what you're looking for.

This is the email that I received today:

Lexus Enform App Suite

INTRODUCING: DESTINATION SEARCH

We hope you are enjoying your Lexus vehicle and your Lexus Enform App Suite service.1

We want to let you know that on August 20, we'll be replacing Bing with a new app called Destination Search on your App Suite. With Destination Search, you can find and save up-to-date points of interest, addresses, restaurants, shopping, entertainment venues and more.

Just follow these three easy steps to update your smartphone and multimedia system.

Note: In order to update your app, please make sure your phone's operating system is up to date with the latest version.

STEP 1: UPDATE YOUR PHONE
On or after August 20, accept the update to your Lexus Enform App Suite on your phone. This will update Bing with the new Destination Search app.

STEP 2: CONNECT YOUR PHONE TO THE MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM
The next time you connect your phone to the Lexus Enform App Suite in your vehicle, you will see a screen like the one pictured below prompting you to download a software update for the multimedia system.

In order to use Destination Search in your vehicle, the multimedia system software must be updated.

STEP 3: UPDATE YOUR MULTIMEDIA SYSTEM
Choose to perform the update now. If you choose "Later," you will be unable to use Destination Search on your multimedia system until the update is completed. This update will take approximately three minutes to complete.

When your update is completed, Destination Search allows you to:

• Search by address, category, and view search history.

• Search using voice recognition.

• View point-of-interest phone number and use the call button to connect directly to your destination.

• NEW! Sort search results by distance.

• NEW! Receive automated suggestions as you search on your smartphone, making it even easier to find what you're looking for.

We look forward to bringing you more exciting new additions to the Lexus Enform App Suite.

Sincerely,
Lexus Enform Customer Support
