Toyota would make a killing selling the Hilux in the U.S.
I doubt the Hilux would sell well in America.

Interior is better than most car interiors. Wish we got that dashboard here.

Default Hilux

The dash looks a bit too sleek for a pickup -- needs some macho added to its styling.

Default Tacoma

Regarding the new Tacoma design, I'm thinking Toyota may have been too complacent in the fact that it was dominating the midsize-pickup market, and didn't go bold enough. In the face of formidable GM competition, the styling should have been taken to a higher level.

nothing sticks out, which is good :-)

Usually when it comes to Toyota designs, even in past few years, we had some good stuff but then something would always stick out like sore thumb... this looks very harmonious all together. Also this is Thailand spec only, Aussie (and EU) spec has not been released yet - I suspect 8"-9" nav screen and leather will be featured thee.

did you see those numbers written anywhere? In official PR, 4.0l is carried over engine.

Hilux and Tacoma are nearly the same size... Toyota would not make a killing selling Hilux in the states, it's more for less developed countries, harder road conditions, higher payloads etc, since there are no "full size" trucks in those markets. There are pretty substantial tradeoffs in ride quality, etc, vs what U.S. market buyers actually want. They would also need to invest in equipping a plant within the U.S. to build the Hilux to avoid the chicken tax, and the somewhat incremental volume over Tacoma and Tundra wouldn't be worth it.

Looks great but I'd definitely prefer the new Tacoma.

"Toyota Genuine accessories for HiLux have been exhaustively tested for strength and durability using a combination of finite element analysis and extensive real-world testing. My dad coined the term "Jihad special" when I bought my pos Toyota truck a few years ago.

No visible body rust on that old special. Guess it's the dry desert climate.

The Toyota HiLux has long had a reputation for being one of the toughest utes on the market – and with this, the eighth-generation model, the brand says it has made the unbreakable HiLux even more unbreakable.

The all new HiLux debuts with a brand new diesel engine and boasts an impressive 3.5 tonne towing capacity in manual trim in addition to a wading depth of 700mm.
