Possibly slated for a 2015 Geneva debut the next gen Audi R8 may have been ousted on Instagram.

Looks aside VW are still masters of vaporware PR.

If you can remember last year all respectable auto media outlets were bragging about specs for this car and each one had its own insider information. So going by what was said new R8 will have no less than eight, yes that's 8, drivetrain options

4.2 = 430hp
4.0TT = 460hp
5.2 = 540hp
5.2 Plus = 600hp
PHEV
EV e-tron = over 250 miles of range
Special Edition RWD
TDI

In other word they had not clue what they were actually going to do so they just spilled out everything. Now watch this debut with usual NA V8 and some crazy e-tron speced concept that might see light of the day one day.
