I test-drove a Marauder when it first came out. I didn't think that much of it at all....at least not as much as I had expected. Its actual performance on the road was nowhere near the muscle-car hype the press was generating (and its 1960s-vintage full-sized muscle-car image/nameplate would suggest). I thought the DOHC 4.6L 303 HP engine in it, though not a slouch by any means, was rather unimpressive in a car of that size/weight. The car was basically a Ford Crown Vic/Grand Marquis with some (more or less) police-spec chassis components and a slick blacked-out paint/trim scheme inside and out. Later, it was available in a few more dark colors as well.

Yeah the problem with the Marauder was the lack of low end torque. That DOCH V8 loves to rev and doesn't really wake up to 3000-3500rpm. I've heard if you change out the rear gears to a numerically higher ratio its like driving a completely different car.
