Celebrating Lexus & Toyota from Around the Globe
Still for about 35-40k, I'd much rather have a larger 4Runner or Highlander with less options.
If style, interior appointments, and prestige are paramount, then go for the Lexus. I just think it is a **** poor value considering your other options within the Toyota family for utility vehicles.

Options are good, choices are good. Just because a certain vehicle doesn't fit the criteria that would work for you doesn't mean it won't work for somebody. You mentioned the 4 Runner and the Highlander, two vehicles I would never even consider purchasing. Doesn't mean people don't purchase them. The compact luxury SUV market is huge, and the NX is priced well within that segment...so I'm not sure how its a "**** poor value"...
Using that logic, why would anybody purchase an IS when they could have a larger ES? or a Toyota Avalon for the same money? Because the IS delivers a better driving experience, its more intimate, and its more stylish. Same is true of an NX vs a Highlander
