BBOS and related devices are indeed dead. But QNX is THE most popular real-time OS for embedded applications. It's simple, fast, stable, extensible and used by just about everyone. Blackberry will be riding its success well after everyone's forgotten they ever made phones.

I think they should have paid Microsoft more to put Cortana in their UI. Nothing beat Cortana.

This looks like a HUGE improvement.

Cadillac I agree with, but I think the UI on current BMWs is quite good, and excellent for the MMI on the Audis.

I agree. I have one of each (iDrive & MMI), and after getting familiar with them they both perform well. These systems take some time to get used to, and each generation usualy offers improvements over the previous.

Yes, the graphics might be OK on the MMI and I-Drive, but both, IMO, are quite difficult to use. I've reviewed a number of BMW and Audis with those systems, and have yet to find one I thought wasn't frustrating.

The MMI is widely regarded as the best in the business...

As mentioned, you have to live with these systems for a while, and their use becomes easier and more intuitive. Even if one isn't interested in learning a lot about them, the basic functions become usable.

They aren't too bad. Took me like 15 minutes in a BMW to play with and learn the UI when I was trying to teach an older relative how to use it.

I actually thought the system was pretty good. A co-worker has a new Ford Fusion, and I'm at least impressed with the voice command. She says "I'm hungry" and it lists nearby restaurants. I tell my '13 GS "Call home" and it asks me which song I want to play.

I owned an '11 Audi S5 and the MMI system is really good. It far surpasses the mouse system in the GS, but then that's hardly news. I agree that the Audi MMI system is one of the best available.
