This here is the new QX30 Concept that will lead to Infiniti's first-ever global compact crossover that will go on sale next year competing against the Mercedes GLA, BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

It's directly related to Infiniti's upcoming Q30 premium compact hatchback, with both cars sharing a modified version of the Mercedes-derived 'MFA' platform that underpins the German firm's competing A-Class and GLA.

The QX30 concept is Infiniti’s design vision for a new premium compact crossover. Bringing together the sleek lines of the coupe with the command sitting and all-wheel drive of a crossover, the QX30 Concept promises to be just as capable navigating city streets as it is exploring weekend getaways.

Default Infiniti QX30 Concept Shows its Curves and Creases in Geneva

Click here to view more live photos

The production version of the Infiniti QX30 Concept will be a really competitive model in the premium compact European crossover segment. It’s got the all important image thing spot on – it looks exclusive and luxurious and thus gives its owner an apparent status boost.

This is more or less what it’s is being pitched as, a car for “individualistic premium customers.”

On top of what it looks like and what it makes other people think, the name Infiniti is much more resonant today, even in Europe, than it was, say, in the late 90s, when the company was under a decade old.

The QX30 is a vehicle that really seems specifically designed for the European market, unlike their previous attempts like putting a Renault diesel engine in a sedan made for Americans…

We’re looking forward to learning more about this car as it nears its production debut; it will be preceded by the regular Q30 hatchback, although in these crossover-crazed times, it’s probably the QX model that will make the bigger splash.

Scroll down to the gallery and check out live photos of the QX30 Concept straight from the Geneva motor show floor!

I hope they do a better job of programming the transmission than Mercedes- their DCT in quite flatfooted in Comfort mode.

Does it feel more 'neutered' like an Eco mode? I assuming you're taking GLA/CLA?

Yes to both. It shifts slowly and doesn't like to downshift. If you're just humming along its fine but if you try to do a quick maneuver in a city setting you'll spend two beats waiting for the car to give you power. The other modes are fine.

Hesitation is the worst especially during an emergency situation
