Default A new car purchased to Lexus GS430

I have't frequent on this board for a while now. My lexus is still here and running good. Lexus now have about 188k miles on it.

I purchased a 2000 BMW M5 almost a year ago and love it to this day. My BMW have taken roadtrip duty from lexus.

Enjoy some pictures.

Love those M5's. Do you have the luxury package with the leather stitched dash, etc?

can you please be truthful and advise any mechanical issues and costs involved so far with the M5?
Love these things but I'm scared they'll end up costing me a fortune in upkeep.

if the 2006 M5 had a nice warranty I would love the own that vehicle. I realize not every BMW is a money pit but it seems like a nice daily with 500hp.

I've seen prices on the 2000 M5's on eBay ranging from 14 to 23k depending on condition . some are in very pristine condition the price reflects that.

This is just what my mechanic told me, but I asked him why he had 3 E60 M5's sitting on his lot, and he told me the V-10 engines tend to have way more issues than other BMW engines in general. Please don't jump on me, I'm only the messenger.

from what i have read and also talking to different owners, the e39 is a "preferred" m5 given how solid the v8 is together with the 6mt. there are typical issues with the cars with high miles, but the drivetrain is relatively strong.

the e60, i have heard more extreme stories. some problems with engines but i think overall it's been pretty good. the problem is the smg. it just keeps on breaking. there is a reason why, as much as they almost didn't make it to market and how people complain it's not for the v10, the 6mt e60 m5 resale is easily 2-3k more compared to smg

Pretty late to this, but I do have luxury package with extended leather package which include leatehr dash, full leather door cards and so on. I believe that my M5 is one of 42 made in combo with options. 2 Rare options include chrome trim and spoiler lip delete.

M5 is pretty reliable once you go over everything. S62 motor is built strong but not like Lexus upkeep. It requires attention to keep everything healthy. My engine and Trans have not had any issues for past 25k miles since the first day of purchase beside the maintenance. First year, you will spend as much to replace lot of things, but after that, it becomes a bit cheaper depending how you drive and take care of things that goes wrong.

There are couple videos on Youtube from owners talking about cost of repair and maint.. Overall the cost isn't that scary but it's also not Lexus cheap.
