How Does the Lexus NX Stack Up Against the Mercedes GLA?
Will the Mercedes GLA crossover be cross-shopped by Lexus NX buyers? AutoGuide thinks so and it’s put together a little comparison to see just what you’re really getting.
The most noticeable difference between the two vehicles is their size. The Lexus offers quite a bit more interior space thanks to its larger dimensions, and it’s reportedly very refined – reviewer calls it a “baby RX” in the way it feels on the road.
The smaller Mercedes can’t match it for feeling like an SUV (if that’s what you’re into…). The NX is nothing like a hatchback, although you can’t really say the same for the GLA.
If it’s performance you’re after, then the NX wins again; the comparable 2.0-liter turbo engine puts out more power and it’s enough to make it feel faster. Apparently, had it not been for the GLA’s clever seven-speed dual-clutch, it would have much more noticeably trailed the Lexus in terms of go.

Lexus tries to convince you their NX is better than a BMW X3 [video]
Lexus is once again trying to explain why one of their models is better than the equivalent BMW.
In the last video they compared the RC 350 to a 435i Coupe and now the duel is between the NX and X3. First up, the Bavarian crossover is labeled as having a recognizable and conventional design whereas the NX is "completely original." It boasts standard LED low-beam headlamps, daytime running lights and fog lamps which cost extra on the X3.
And now for the most controversial part of the clip, Ming-Jou Chen of Lexus College says that while X3's standard rear-wheel drive is "fine" for dry conditions, the NX's front-wheel drive layout provides the "all-weather confidence" which "many" drivers will prefer. Just like in the previous clip, the BMW model is being criticized for its lack of a spare tire as instead it comes with run-flat tires which are more expensive to replace compared to NX's conventional rubbers.
While the NX's trunk can hold four golf bags, the X3 "not so much" and it's the same story on the inside where front passenger benefits from almost three inches more legroom. The 60:40 folding rear seats can be folded in the NX by using the switches on the instrument panel, rear seat and in the trunk while the X3 lacks this option.
The video goes on by pointing out several features which come standard on the NX but are optional on the X3.
