Top 10 Driving Etiquette Mistakes
No, the texting while driving is now my biggest pet peeve. Stopped at a light with one car ahead of you, light turns green, they don't go. Head is tilted down. HONK! Oh, then they go. It is happening almost every single day on my way to and from work, especially at lefthand turn arrows when there's a decent wait. It's an epidemic. These same people who are texting at red lights are the same ones likely texting while moving. It's like having a few 100,000 more drunk drivers on the road at any given time. The penalty must increase for texters.... it's getting worse, not better.

No tolerance for texters. They are selfish killers of the road. Whatever amount of public embarassment it takes is needed.
I must be mister nice guy then. I lightly tap my horn as to not get the full sound. I get about two light honks.
This only works on Lexus cars though. The horn in my MB is either on or off

Makes the car seems as if it has an ASYMMETRIC BUTT
But I do LIKE the ones that are in the CENTER

As well as the ones that are seen on BOTH SIDES

I approve of those and I use them at night
Anyways:

A lot of these full-size American SUVs get brought in to the Philippines and my goodness, a number of Filipino drivers here get confused by it.......and I hear some that do like them at all.
In some cases, it's a safety hazard (i.e. when turning, only one side has brake lights)
EPIC FAIL IMHO
Older cars are more guilty with brake lights that also double as turn signals. But newer cars with LED red turn signals are just fine. I always hated red signals but find the led ones on my MB to be great
This should be added to the list, 27 or 31?
27/31. For yours and the rear motorists' safety, please pay for delivery or get a dedicated transport vehicle for oversized items. How many times have we seen loose items in an SUV, pickup truck, or even in a sedan's trunk that sticks out and are not properly fastened? How about the family of four in their small sedan holding with their bare hands the mattress and box spring they bought, on the roof of the car?

Pumping brakes should flash both taillights at once, unless something is wrong with the bulb, wiring, relay switch, or socket.. Turn signals should only flash one taillight at a time...left or right. Red lights or not, as long as both systems are working properly, I don't see how they can confuse.
Agreed. That also ties in with my #12....keeping one's eyes on the road.

Speaking of hard to see turn signals, the last gen Jetta and Infiniti G37 had the hardest ones to see. They were small half or full circles inside another lit area. Really dumb whoever green-lighted those.
For those posting pics of brakelights on the lower bumper, think about how dysfunctional they are. Any light that far down on a vehicle cannot be seen when in stop and go traffic or when you pull up to it and stop. The front of your own hood covers up your view of the lights.
Yet more on rear lights: GM's ridiculous idea of illiminating white back-up lights when someone disarms their car or opens the door. Thanks GM for confusing thousands of people in parking lots across America looking for a parking space. Should be illegal to tinker with those lights for other than BACKING UP. That's why they are called BACK-UP LIGHTS.
Lastly, the 2009-2012 Camry's rear LED brakelights are far too bright when tailing in stop and go traffic.

Mike, I sit on one side of the car. I am NOT watching both the brake lights at the same time, especially when I am trying to take a right exit, my attention is to the right of the road, and the right end of the car in front of me. Do you understand this situation? Numerous times I have been confused, esp when the highway speeds are 70-80mph in TX. Very risky.
Blackraven I've seen this sort of driving, go to a place like Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and it's even worse, no lights at intersections and the guy who can put up the bravest show, goes first. Funny enough there's little fender benders. What scared me more in my biking days was the "absent" driver that suddenly turns because it struck him that he was travelling past the street he was supposed to take or the girl updating her lipstick or the office johnny on his cell phone. Maybe it's because you're more alert in crazy traffic, but I can keep you busy for a while telling you how you lose your marbles on a motorcycle if some school teacher type slams on the brakes in front of you, because she forgot the kids tests at home.
I'll take you through Johannesburg, dodging the minibus taxis and BMW drivers and come out without a scratch to my RX, but don't give me the halfwit who forgets that he is in a car.
(No offence to school teachers and BMW drivers, I have lots of them as relatives and I love 'em to death)
