really? i just went by Motortrend's review and from the exterior i've seen so far on the street, imo, the new style looks a bit smaller actually compare to my 2IS just from looks

The 3IS is 3" longer overall (183" vs 180"). There is a huge difference in rear seat foot room between the two generations

 

The specs online show the rear seat increase being 1.6" but it definitely feels like there's a bit more room than that.

Has there been any updates on when the new 2.0L turbo will be replacing the 3IS 2.5L motor?

 

oh yes... increased wheelbase and length went to the back seat, plus they reconfigured front seats as well, to allow for more front seat... so it should be considerably nicer than before and perfectly fine for kids seats. They improved trunk as well.

 

Its a big difference to me…and honestly I'm kind of perplexed cause the entire class has pretty tight rear seat room and the IS got the internet beating like it was that much worse...

Funny, the rear is my least favorite because of the rear valence. It's cheap looking/feeling and doesn't belong. I'd have that body color matched in a heartbeat

 

me too, that's why i prefer darker colored 3IS to mask that piece, but i'm sure aftermarket carbon fiber products will solve this in a heart beat

I don't understand why they couldn't colour code everything. Like how it was done in the old days.

Since when was black plastic ever attractive? And most automakers are resorting to this style.

 

It's used as a design and visual trick on cars with high rear decks. With high rear decks comes tall bumpers. In order to reduce the massive look of a tall bumper, the black cuts off some of the visual mass. One could argue the 2IS had one of the tallest rear bumpers from top to bottom. The full paint highlighted it. But I'd gladly take the full paint and tall look, than the cheap black, plastic look now coming in style.

If anyone is good at Photoshop it would be very interesting to see how the 3IS would look with a full painted rear bumper..
