I would add a poll choice to state "No, the GS F should get the job done." and it would get my vote.
If I were going to take that step up, I'd prefer it be the GS F. With that said, I'd hardly be sad or disappointed if Lexus were to make an IS F, I'd personally just prefer a GS F.

I was told with a grin "it makes sense for a RWD Lexus to have a model".. As Hoover stated new engines are coming..
Also Lexus is adamant the RC is a standalone car, not an IS or GS coupe. They will tell you how much effort they put into the RC F to ensure it stands out. They also don't consider it a RC350 plus.
Heck I'm still waiting for official word on the GS F lol

The copy+paste answer that I get most is that Lexus is focusing sport efforts on the RC F. And believe me, I've talked to everyone at Lexus corporate who would listen. I can understand them not wanting to develop two cars that occupy a similar segment, but they're going to lose a lot of customers who want four doors (like me).
For you though, you can always get a GS-F for your four doors needs.

a new gen IS F would be great for the company but if they just drop the tweaked RC F engine into it, i'll be holding out for a GS F. even if the GS F has a TT V6, i'd assume it would get closer to the 500 hp mark and outperform the current IS F and RC F. maybe i'm totally off.
but if they drop the RC F engine into the GS F, then i don't know. haha

I rather they not make a IS F based on the 3rd Gen, but rather concentrate on a build V6 TT w/Yamaha or use the new V8 for a GS F
That way, the people that do want a performance sedan would have the GS F and for the Coupe - RC F
IS F is a great start point for the F branding, but making an IS F on the 3rd Gen would be late in the game... won't get as many buyers as they would just making the GS F
Yes the GS F would be in a higher segment, but they would be in a better standpoint to battle against M5, E63, CTS-V, XFR, RS6 - The company needs this, the GS350 lacks the power in the mid class luxury sedan bracket
I believe the new tweaked up RC350's 3.5L would be replaced next year in the IS350 to give it a little more power and a better 0-60
