How much do you trust the ATS'S predicated reliability?
I don't even give it that. Buick has been above average over the past decade, but Caddy has been unable to duplicate that. Consumer Reports (yes--I said it) still rates most Caddy products average or below avg.

Uhhh things have changed. Acura and Infiniti have some average years and Benz and audi have had some great ones. It's no longer just assumed Japanese is good and German/American is bad, especially since production is all over the world.
I would have no issues giving the ATS a shot and would not be worried about reliability.

I look at it like good students. GM is an F student who has aced a few mid term exams. This still doesnt make them an A student. Just an F student who did well on a few exams.
You want to be an A student..........Ace them all......like Lexus

GM is hardly an F student, though. Look at the bottom of that list. No GM brands. I wouldn't buy or not buy any GM product today because of reliability concerns. I would actually be concerned about reliability were it a VW product, or a Chrysler group product. If I'm buying a Jag or Land Rover it's purely for snob appeal and reliability wouldn't be a concern.
The reason Cadillac has gotten a bad wrap is the FWD Northstar V8 cars that were their bread and butter back in the 90's and early 00's. Cars with that motor were a serious POS with multiple common problems(Deville, Seville, Eldorado, same issues) besides them blowing headgaskets.
IMO they've come A LONG way in the past 10 years, both in the design/engineering of their cars, and in terms of reliability/ownership costs.
