One thing to note why I like AWD is that people often just think of navigating roads or freeways with snow on the ground but some of the real issues come up when a plow went down the street and builds up a 1ft-2ft+ hill into entrance ways or other streets and found myself wanting AWD in those cases more so than just winter rubber on RWD.
Most don’t get stuck while they are on the roads, it happens a lot when your transistioning roads and driveways.

As someone who drives with it every day, I can tell you it's no big deal. I can't even contort myself in there in any way where I can even bump it with my leg. It's completely out of the way. But for someone who's never driven it, I can see how it would appear to be an issue. But it isn't.

It's not anywhere near "HUGE". It's a couple of inches high.
