You won't see Jeremy Clarkson writing a review of a Lexus RX anybody would take seriously. Remember...C&D fired Brock Yates.
Thank GOD. I HATED Brock Yates. More than I hate Jonny Lieberman from MT.

He's been gone from C&D since like 05 or 06. He actually has Alzheimer's disease now...I never cared for him either but its hard to have strong feelings about somebody in that condition...

No offense taken. I wouldn't want to be Jeremy Clarkson or Brock Yates. I respect the fact they are considered professional reviewers, but I'm not a fan of the way either one of them writes. Clarkson, IMO, uses too much satire, and Yates, IMO, is too much of a blowhard on a number of issues. I review in a manner that I think is overall more well-rounded (and am generally open to suggestions/corrections). But I realize that I can't please everybody, either. So..for those who disagree with my reviews (or my writing style/format), fine. Opinions noted.

All reviewers have some sort of bias and expectations and it doesn't matter who it is. Reviews are very subjective and that is just the nature of the beast. There are so many examples of cars that are objectively better on paper but subjectively other cars just "feel" better to the reviewer.

I agree with you on the fact the Lexus has lost their way. We loved the ES 300 2001 as it had the combination of performance, luxury, styling and etc. We also purchased a GX 460 SU in 2005 great car. We waited starting in 2008 to replace these cars hoping Lexus would get their act together. We replaced the ES with a 2013 BMW 335I Sports addition fully options, blind spot, lane changes, front and rear camera, parking assist, keyless entree etc. We drove a 2014 Lexus RX 350 and 450 and boy the Germans have Lexus in both performance and electronic packages. It is almost like Lexus RX has the reputation but if you look around RX is no longer the leader. Why they have sales most is repeat on lease trade ins etc. We are holding off replacing the GX hoping the 2015 RX 350 based on the Harrier is a better vehicle. If not we will be buying a BMW X3 or Mercedes. Another option is the Tesla X. Toyota get your head out of the past and look at what the rest of your competitors are doing.

I don't think theres any argument that they aren't doing that. Just look at the new GS and the new IS, how they've beaten the germans in all the comparison tests.

You compared an RX to your 335...thats not a fair comparison as they are completely different types of vehicles, its also not a fair example of where Lexus is now in 2014 since its a model towards the end of its life thats been around since 2010. A fairer comparison would be to drive a new IS350...

Exactly, which is why I am looking toward in trading my 2013 RX in the next 3 years or so.

Honestly, Lexus is doing pretty good vs the German.

The only thing is that they are kinda Pricey for their Power Number to Money ratio.

The new IS cant even get to 300HP for 40 grands

between now and 2016 will be the most interesting transition period. New powertrains on waiting in the wings with the 2.0T debuting in the NX. Of course most of us enthusiasts are waiting for the TTV6 and TTV8, which I imagine will debut on the LS and possibly IS/GS/RC/LF-LC - that last part is speculation of course

How ironic that BMW makes the softer, poorer handling car right now.

Truth of the matter is : BMW might be more of a chick-car than Lexus is right now.
