Although I agree, it just goes to show how important brand image is for someone to consider and trust me they will drop $80,000 for a M3/4.

Lexus needs to realize this and know that if they want to achieve true parity with their major competition in regards to Luxury and Performance then to fortify their position it will take full dedication to both with emphasis towards establishing the F line as the constant apex of Lexus performance.

Is $80k too much for a 6 cylinder Porsche? A GTR? If the M3/4 retained a V8 like the E9Xs had, would $80k be justifiable?

Porsches are notoriously overpriced and the E9x did not cost $80k despite having the V8 (started at $60k and topped out at $70k).

You obviously never shopped for an E9X M3; well, not with options anyway... Porsche are overpriced, OK, but they have 6 cylinder cars well over $100k so an $80k 6 cylinder Porsche would seem like a relative bargain!

Hmmm... Let's see if I got this right, proper coupe F-Type is a GT while F30 four door and F32 four door minus two doors are hardcore sports cars?

Ummm u must not know anything about E92 M prices - lots of them were even over 80k

Again base price of the new M3/4 will be in the mid-$60k range only slightly more than E92!

Their "essence", and I was referring to the M versions for the BMWs.

I tend to agree with Mr. Burns to a certain degree but it is just a personal thing for me and they will sell so obviously they are worth it to many. I just have a hard time paying $90k for a performance version of a 3 series BMW. Same goes for the 1 series BMW that is $50k which is supposed to be an incredible track car but $50k for such a small car? That just doesn't make sense to me personally. If the M3/4 was going to be $70k it appeals to me more. For $90k I want it to look a lot different than the regular 3 series. Same goes for the GT500, it is a great car but I have a hard time paying $65k-$70k for a car that looks too much like a regular mustang. I think the problem is cars are just getting more expensive than they used to be and I am struggling with that, I mean an IS350 I look at at the dealer was $50k! I just am not used to that yet.

^^ this, i can buy. i also think car prices are inflating so much the past years (obviously more than my salary) that i have a hard time justifying most of the prices.

however looking at the whole market, it is what it is. the m3/m4 is expensive? i think the new is350 at 50k really expensive. the new gs350 at 60k too, very expensive. but i say the same on 335 and 535 as well. but overall when i look at everything on the market, they all seems to be priced relatively "reasonably well" from each other

just that my wallet...

Agreed - car prices in general are going crazy.

U want overpriced - A fully loaded Mazda 3 is now $30k lol, thats just nuts! We are NOT even talking about the performance model here.

Wait, what happened to all the exposed carbon on the front and rear bumper? the one I saw on the road with little to no camouflage has exposed carbon like in the earlier spy photos
