From the current pics, the exterior does not look any better compared to the current-gen model. It's not worse but it's not better either.
However, the interior is refreshing indeed......and upgrades such to the Bang & Olufsen sound system are most welcome.
There is a concern though:
-Base engine 2.0 TFSI engine to be released in Asia..........as well as America

I could understand maybe in the case of Asian markets with high displacement taxes and traffic congestion etc.................but a Q7 with a 4 cylinder engine in America?
Will Americans find it too underpowered?
I reckon that Volvo is also banking on a 4 banger unit for Stateside. An XC90 with a 4-pot engine might not be well received by majority of Americans................but we'll see.

Dropping 500LB on an overweight car isn't that hard. I would be surprised if they can do the same next gen. Remember that VW chassis are shared across the board from VW to Porsche. They at least have more incentive to make competitive chassis design.

Agreed, it looks more wagon than SUV. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Maybe this particular model is lowered for the press pics.
I wouldn't worry too much about the 2.0 engine. Audi has one of the best and it keeps getting more horsepower regularly.

As to 2.0t, since it dropped a lot of weight, it will be reasonable... under 8.0 0-60.

The 2015 Q7 will also get a 2.0 TFSI primarily in Asian markets and United States where it will put out 252 HP (185 kW) and 370 Nm (272.9 lb-ft).
Car and Driver mentions that the Ford Explorer equipped with the 2.0 Turbo does okay.......but barely manages to keep up with the weight of the Explorer.
Oh and there is another concern: TOWING

I guess the premise here is:
If you're driving the car by yourself or with your family of kids, then I guess it's fine. BUT if you're towing and hauling heavy stuff, then avoid the four-banger.......UNLESS it is a Diesel.

If they could ever manage to get the new Mustang 2.3 power to get 2.0 numbers in the Explorer they'd have a winner. As it stands a new 2.7L V6 is in the F-150 and Edge could always find it's way into more Fords. Would be nice to see Lincoln models that get these engines perhaps get special versions with more displacement.

fancy headlights and taillights won't distract from the boring look.
If they spent the same amount of time on the exterior as they did with the inside of the headlights, they would have made a better looking truck

X-Tomi Design decided to render the second generation Audi Q7 in the range-topping RS guise.
Audi's R&D boss Ulrich Hackenberg has already confirmed the all-new Q7 will spawn an SQ7 derivative and now X-Tomi Design decided to show us an even more powerful version that would be commercialized with the RS Q7 moniker.
While the SQ7 will combined a turbodiesel engine with an electric motor, the RS Q7 will likely make use of an uprated twin-turbo V8 4.0 TFSI delivering as much as 600 HP (441 kW), up from the stock configuration rated at 560 HP (412 kW).
Matching the increased horsepower will be a more aggressive styling with bigger vents, muscular wheel arches and side skirts, along with enlarged brakes and dual oval exhaust tips. Such a version would obviously come with a quattro all-wheel drive system and would tip the scales at around 2,200 kg (4,850 lbs) taking into account the new 3.0 TDI Q7 weighs 1,995 kg (4,398 lbs).
There's no word yet about an RS Q7 but if green-lighted for production, Audi will probably introduce it late 2016 / early 2017, approximately one year after the SQ7.
