October 2013 Sales Thread

Like its brother Outback, the Forester is a classic modern cult-mobile, with a dedicated set of followers. It would sell no matter how much Subaru cheapens or decontents it....the 2008/09 redesign proved that. And, over and above that, I have to disagree that it now has an 80s cabin. Back then, many interiors didn't even have covered/wrapped steering wheels....you gripped a hard rim of plastic. You blew the horn with El Cheapo buttons on the steering-wheel spokes, often hard to find quickly in an emergency. Heat-vents were only on the floor, not at dash-height like today. And many interiors were not only monotone, but, outside of luxury/upscale vehicles, didn't even have contrasting trim-strips.

My thoughts:
MB/BMW are killing it in sales.
BMW still has new X5, 4Series (Xdrive), and 2Series which will increase sales even higher.
MB CLA is everywhere in NYC - actually surprised it didnt sell over 10,000 units lol. Car is hideous imo, esp the ones without LED light package.
3/4Series at over 11,000 units.
MB Eclass - what can u say, its like the Camry of luxury midsize cars.
IS selling well so far at 3,570 this month. (would like to see it do 5,000/month)
LS at over 1,000 units - very surprising.
RX is unstoppable as usual.
GS at only 1,293 units - another horrendous month. A6 is even selling better than GS, now with the Caddy CTS coming out......lots of competition - Lexus needs to do something ASAP to save it.
GS-F to the rescue

1200 units was only down about 15% to last year. You do not understand how sales work and every month regurgitate the same wrong points. How many times must one say there is no 4 cylinder GS like the 5 series or A6 offers?
Smh every month making up **** to bash the GS

No one's bashing the GS, just telling the facts. The A6 also had 4-cylinder before against the 3GS, yet the 3GS beat it badly. It's just a fact now that the A6 and GS have crossed streams with their latest generation models, with the A6 being much more popular than the new GS. Whereas before the GS was always the perennial 3rd place behind 5-series and E-class, it's been replaced by the A6 recently. It's just facts, sadly.

because they've gone off volvo
and many do, but subaru has a MUCH stronger image for the outdoorsy crowd as the go anywhere, but 'sensible' non-real-suv-world-destroying type vehicles.
so true! subaru engines are TOUGH too, which the sensible crowd likes (drive 'em forever) and the enthusiast crowd likes (drive the snot out of 'em).
I would think they would buy a cool hybrid from Toyota.
