Need a little help/direction... I have a curbed rim on my wifes Jeep SRT8. Ill get some pictures up but the wheels are painted and not a polished wheel that you can buff out... has anyone had success with repairing a painted wheel?

Is it possible to have these sanded down and repainted to the factory color/ powder coated possibly?

If powder coat is the way I was considering having these redone in a black chrome finish to match the VAPOR edition SRT8s..

Im in the Northern Los Angeles Area, any tips or direction would be great. Ill try to snap a few pics this afternoon.

 

Funny timing. I fixed and painted a wheel today. I buy and fix wrecks on the side at my home and my current project had a badly curbed wheel and a blown tire. Had I known this thread would crop up I'd have taken a before pic. As it stands I'll post a couple pics of it freshly painted.

I DA sanded the rash with 80 grit until it was gone. Then stepped it out with 180 grit. Sanded the rest of the wheel with 400 and primed it. (used a self etching primer over the raw metal first). Sanded the primer and then painted her silver and cleared it. There's probably at least one place that does this kind of work for the used car dealers in your area. Might take a little digging but you can find them.

Powder coating isn't my area so I won't comment on that point.

If you post a couple good pics I can try and tell you if yours looks better or worse than mine was.

 

you can probably find the matching OEM paint on a Jeep forum.

I'm no pro but I've fixed curb rash a few times by actually sanding then filling deep rash w/superglue(hey it worked), sanding some more and matched the paint with no issues.

...otherwise it'll be $100+ to repair at a wheel shop

 

I use jb weld, sand the jb weld and scuff the rest of the wheel and then respray..it's pretty easy so long as you have a steady painting hand if using the spray cans

 

Wow that looks awesome! I'm going to take a picture of my curbed rim so I can get your opinion.
