Chevy Launches 2015 Silverado Midnight Edition
Click here to view more photos
The US loves its trucks; in fact, they're crazy about them in some parts of the country. And so this basic black Chevrolet Silverado looks like it's going to be an instant hit.
Called the Silverado Midnight edition, it will make its public debut on February 14th at the Chicago Auto Show, after already having been on display at the National Automobile Dealers Association Convention & Expo in San Francisco.
If you want your truck to look as cool as the one in these images, you have to start with a black Silverado Z71, which already includes off-road suspension, a locking rear diff, Hill Descent Control and a trailering package - to which the Midnight Edition adds: rear park assist and heated power adjusted mirrors, all-black front end with body colored (grille, bumper, headlamp bezels, tow hooks and fog lamps), black side moldings and beltline moldings, 18" black alloys with Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac all-terrain tires, Special Z71 badges on the doors, black spray-in bedliner and black Chevy logos front & rear.
Sandor Piszar, marketing director for the Silverado said that "The Midnight special edition lets our dealers offer a custom look right from the factory", which should help grab the attention of customers who otherwise might have been worried about their warranty coverage in case of any after-market optical tuning to their trucks.
The Chevrolet Silverado Midnight edition will be offered in either 1500 double-cab or crew-cab versions and up to 5,000 units will be produced for the 2015 model year. As for the dealers, they can start ordering the trucks this February with package prices ranging from $1,595 to $1,995, depending on the model.

GM exec says a Ford F-150 Raptor competitor is a low priority
General Motor's Executive Vice President of Global Product Development has downplayed the possibility of a Ford F-150 Raptor competitor.
Speaking to Edmunds, Mark Reuss said "We have a lot of priorities" but a Raptor competitor isn't one of them right now.
While Reuss said we won't be seeing a Raptor competitor anytime soon, he hinted we could eventually see a production version of the Colorado ZR2 concept. As a refresher, it featured a rugged front fascia with a revised grille, aluminum tow hooks and an integrated winch. The model also had a power dome hood, custom fender flares and 18-inch bead lock-style aluminum wheels with off-road tires.
Besides the styling tweaks, the truck was equipped with new front control arms, mono-tube coil-over shock absorbers and electronic-locking front and rear differentials. The truck also had skid plates and a two-inch lift.

Chevrolet dealer caught selling 2014 Silverado with open recall status [video]

Hundreds of other cars already sold
An ABC News investigation has discovered hundreds of new cars with open recall status have been sold in United States.
The footage below was recorded at Hawthorne Chevrolet in Hawthorne, New Jersey where a salesman by the name of Arnie sold a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado affected by an open recall to an undercover ABC News producer. Even though the sales representative was not legally required to inform the customer about the recall, the dealerships had to fix the car before selling it.
When confronted, Arnie said he wasn't aware the almost $50,000 Silverado was the target of a recall. However, he was caught on camera (before making the transaction) saying there wasn't a recall concerning the vehicle. That particular Silverado was recalled due to a potential gearbox problem causing the car to go into neutral and lose power.
ABC News says the issue is much more widespread than this as according to their investigation U.S. dealers have already sold hundreds of new cars which had an open recall status.

Have to agree with Hoovey.......it's more than likely the franchise. My first reaction was to think...."Well, it's in New Jersey......what do you expect?" But, on second thought, I felt that attitude is probably being overly-judgemental....there are still a lot of honest shops in that state as well, even if that particular shop placed sales and money before safety or reliability.
