Top Gear "What's the Greatest Car in the past 20 years?"
#16
The Jag XJ220 and the McLaren F1, even 20 years later they are still competitive with the latest Ferrari, Lambo, etc. Although that is already changing, starting with the Bugatti Veyron, and when Porcsche introduces the 918 and Ferrari the LaFerrari, all those cars are going to redefine the fastest production cars in the world for probably another 20 years.
As for my favorite car on that list, its the Pagani Zonda. Its just such a crazy looking machine, and the engine/drivetrain technology is kind of old school vs the Veyron, which is why I like it more(huge displacement naturally aspirated V12, manual gearbox, rear wheel drive). Anybody can stomp on the go pedal on a Veyron and look like a champ, it takes skill(and bravery) to drive a 550hp, 2500lb, heavy clutch, carbon fiber rocketship that will spin you around into the ditch if you don't know how to drive it.

There's no denying, though, that the car single handedly shook the automotive world upside down. Not only did it change the luxury automobile landscape forever, it wrote the book on it.

Yes, it can do 250 MPH (where the road surface/conditions/speed limits allow), but what has it really done to influence the auto-market or auto-industry? Under the surface, it's basically just another Italian supercar with a monster 1000 HP engine, a fancy interior, and a million-dollar price tag (perhaps even more with markups). Almost no one outside of a few celebrities and/or extreme car-enthisiasts can own one.
most influential might be the prius, a car i find hideous to look at inside and out, and to drive.

Well, considering the success of hybrids recently, the Prius certainly was a huge factor in their development. The 1Gen Honda Insight, in 2000, actually beat the original 1Gen Prius to the American market by about 6-7 months (I got to test-drive one of the first Insights into the D.C. area). But, compared to the Prius, the Insight was a toy, and never sold in anywhere near the same numbers, as, of course, is still the case today.

Give those guys about 20 more years (maybe some arthritis in their joints and a stiff lower back) and they probably won't consider comfort to be boring.
