I think the black one looks fine for what it is.
It hides the flaws better. Can't really see that limp character line that falls off anterior to the rear wheels
As for "uninspiring", the same can be said of lexus sedans. You're setting your expectations too high

is exactly what I thought when i first looked at it. They softened damn near every character line on the car. Its what I would expect a next gen Accord to look like. Will see once we have better pics and in person, but right now this is a let down.

The headlights are what's jacked. They are taller and larger on the side of the car than they are on the front. Should be the other way around. As is, there is too much front bumper in the headlight area.

Maybe Acura is competing with cars from 2005? Then everything makes sense.

Acura did try something radical -- they introduced The Beak. What else radical do you want?
The front-end look with overly small, squinty-eyed headlights and too-much front bumper has become a TL trademark.

LOL at trying to cover the Acura badge. As if the beak didn't give it away.
I'm just glad it doesn't look like the previous TL. It's one step in the right direction, but they still have a long way to go. It might not look so bad with some aftermarket wheels and whatnot. But they NEED a good powertrain otherwise it's wasted effort.

Squinty headlights are good, but not when the side of the light is taller (thicker) than the front. The weight of a headlight should be in the front of a car, not sagging or drooping on the side of it. Few (if no other) cars portray this off-balance look.

blandness is standard for both and to be expected for fwd entry level
One has a cleft lip, and the other has a glasgow smile that wraps around the side of the car.

The entry level luxury sports sedan segment is soooo tough. This thing is gonna get trashed...predicting a failure for Acura here. Its just bland...and a touch ugly
