Go to STI and S2K forums and ask owners there on specific issues, maintenance costs, etc.

I'd personally go with an STi

working on a s2000 is very easy and parts ordered on line (oem) is very reasonable.if i didnt change rear tires so often i would of saved a lot of money.
the gear box is one of the best boxes ever made, simiply a joy to shift.

S2000 as a DD in PA? seems like the sti or newer wrx would be the better car.

having purchased my first turbo AWD car at 78k get ready for major service. At 100,000 miles I have to put in a new turbo, but so many things go out before their time, o2 sensors which might last the life of a car seem to only last 80k on a turbo car, every little vacuum hose will need to be traced down and replaced, turbo components like diverter valves go out, all sorts of finiky things.

I bet the Honda will cost almost nothing to own vs the STi

I currently dd my 07 sti. Stage 2 since break in. Currently at 80k miles. Aside from regular maintenance and services the sti has been very reliable and no troubles. Just be careful when buying a used one. But really same goes for a s2000.
You will be taking a hit in mpg with the sti. I get average 19mpg.
The sti is a great performing car but I find myself wanting a s2000. The s2000 puts a smile on my face every time i get the opportunity to drive one...but i do not think i can dd one.
With that said I am currently looking to for an AP2 s2k or Coyote 5.0 mustang gt as a second car.

Maint costs
$30 oil change every 3k miles done at home with motul oil and subaru filter
major services, i think 15k, 30k, 60k done at dealer or shop
heres IAG and andrewtech prices, 2 very well know subie shops in the mid-Atlantic area

The S2000 is the only Honda that doesn't drive like any other Honda. It's slow in a straight line like the Si, but that's where the similarity ends. As soon as you turn that steering wheel, you know it's a different beast.
