You will have enough for an LFA and maybe a 2 bedroom apartment in Bronx.

Why Bronx? I can easily find a nice apartment in Brooklyn by the ocean for $250K - $300K. And after buying an LFA, I will still have enough for 50% down payment.

Iunno, from what I know about NYC real estate prices, 200k - 300k apartments in Queens or around Ctown is pretty much like the equivalent of living in the Bronx in terms of environment and safety lol

And what is there to do in a place where you have 11 parking spots?

If you want symphony, theater, music clubs, museums, lectures, pro sports, fine dining, fancy shopping, world class medical facilities, hanging out with lots of smart people, you pony up (if you can) for over priced city real estate (in a safe neighborhood) and deal with some of the constraints.

Go outdoors It's actually quite fun.

Lot's of camping, hiking, swimming, fishing, atv'ing, etc here in Southern Utah. We have a lot of city amenities here(metro area roughly 130,000 pop). Certainly not on the level of say Vegas, Los Angeles, or NY, but I love it here.

Good point. Half a million has to pay for a pretty decent construction project to get more spots, wouldn't it? If not just this half million, then combine the value of all the spots around there.

You can not just build something in the back bay

Have a look at the constraints from the city

http://www.cityofboston.gov/environm...guidelines.pdf

I did some more reading and the spots the buyer purchased were tandem, not even side by side

Yep, I'm with you 100% on this one.

Its not like she won't get her money back, she'll may even resell it in ten years for a good profit. Its just an investment like any other kind of real estate.
