When I purchased our ES300h the dealer insulted me with an offer of $3,500 for her 06 Volvo S80. I took it to Carmax and they offered $8,000 which I thought was reasonable, but a little low based on sales in the area. I sold the car myself on Craigslist for $9,700. I agree with the comment about it taking time. When I walked in I was told 30 minutes, but it was nearly an hour. My recollection is that the price is good for 7-8 days.

On the buy side, Carmax, given their varied inventory, seems like a good place to go if you are not sure exactly what you want.
